Second honeymoon

When we took our Discovery Weekend before getting married, Mike and I made a deal not to give each other gifts on our anniversaries. Instead, we will spend the money we would have spent on gifts on a short trip together. Actually, Mike forgot all about this, so maybe I just invented the whole deal myself! I could have gotten pa rin a gift from him on our first anniversary. But I reminded him. To his relief, he re-agreed.

Anyway, when we made this deal, what we had lang in mind was a weekend in Baguio, or Tagaytay. That sort of thing. Just a short break from the daily grind to spend time with each other and keep the love alive, so to speak. However, last year, on our very first anniversary, we weren't able to find time to do this. I didn't mind because there were many things happening last year that I didn't want to miss. Plus, I would have missed Lia. And anyway we still behave like newlyweds so the love is still very big and strong.

But Mike has been working practically nonstop for about two years now, since he graduated from his Master's degree. He needs and deserves a break. Finally, the opportunity arose, his boss will be in the US for the first two weeks of April. Which makes it the perfect time for him to also take a break. So our annual anniversary trips for 2006 and 2007 will be put together to one long trip this year in April. Mike wanted to take me to the US. Di ko feel. I wanted to go somewhere near so most of the trip was the actual destination, and not flying over oceans. I suggested Vietnam, he had just been there. He wanted Singapore, I had just gone last December. Cambodia? We've both been there. Although not together. How about Indonesia? We've always wanted to see Bali and Borubudur. After three travel agents and several schedule/accommodation adjustments, we are booked. March 30 - April 7, we're out of town.

We will be alone together for 9 whole days. For the first time ever. Good luck na lang. Ang pikon, talo. :D

I'm very excited. I've spent countless hours trawling the internet for good places to see, eat and shop in in Jakarta, Bali and Jogja. I'm this close to typing out an itinerary matrix for us to follow on the trip. This will be a lot of fun. Except for one thing. I'll be separated from Lia for 9 whole days too. Sooooo long! We'll probably talk about her 90% of the time. Sigh. Pero ganun talaga. Taking care of your children also means taking care of your marriage. And Mike and I like having a good start. ;)
