"Huh? There's someone here... is he the same age as me?" A soft voice inquired as Ryuu stared at the clouds from the bow of the ship. It was nice and quiet here, no one bothered him as the ship drew ever nearer to the island that was last part of the final to enter Dan Detective School. He waited for the person to leave, as everyone else had.

To his quiet surprise, they didn't. "Hey, you! You're taking the test too?!"

"There's a storm coming..." He said, staring at the mass of dark clouds. The ride was going to be bumpy soon, it was better of the other boy headed back inside.

"A storm?" The boy echoed, sounding confused. The confusion faded to a soft muttering and then a cheerful apology. "Oh... sorry! I'm Kyuu! I'm in my third year of middle school. What's your name?"

"My name is Ryuu..." He turned to look at the person who was staring at dark haired boy who was staring at him. "Amakusa Ryuu."

The boy, Kyuu, stared at him for a moment more, then -beamed-, like the sun coming out from behind the stormy clouds.

He was just contemplating jumping off the bridge onto the path of an oncoming train below when Kyuu called his name, concerned about him.

Ryuu stared at the Kyuu for a moment, then smiled slightly. Of course Kyuu would be worried, Ryuu had just taken a knife to protect Kyuu from Pluto's wrath. And here he'd just been thinking of running away...

"Kyuu? Can I ask you something?"

"What?" Kyuu smiled faintly. "Why did you become so serious?"

Ryuu gathered his courage and braced himself. "Can I stay at your home for a while?"

"Eeeh?" Kyuu's eyes went wide. "You're running away from home?"

"No..." He had no home, really. "If it's inconvenient, forget it. I've got some money, I can stay at a hotel..." He laughed slightly, trying to reassure Kyuu, even as he felt his world crumble some more under his feet. It was a stupid question to ask, really.

Kyuu laughed, reaching out and putting his hands on Ryuu's shoulders, to reassure him or to keep him from running away, it was hard to tell. "You're welcome at my house." He said sincerely, the smile not fading. "I don't know why you're running away, but I'm on your side."

Ryuu almost felt like crying, and for the first time, not out of sorrow.

"Oh, my." Kyuu-mama said with a smile over the table. "They way you two finish each other's sentences, it's just like an old married couple who's been together for ever!"

They exchanged looks over the table, Ryuu blushing faintly, Kyuu beaming happily at Ryuu. "Cool!"

"It's kind of crowded in here." Ryuu winced, wishing he could stretch out his legs. But if he did that, there would be no room for Kyuu in the small box they were hiding in from the smugglers. Hopefully Megu, Kinta and Kazuma would find them before his legs either completely cramped up or they were discovered.

"Yeah..." Kyuu agreed thoughtfully, and then suddenly began to shift. "Hold on, I've got an idea."

"Eh?" He held himself completely still as Kyuu put a hand on his shoulder, moving around.

"Okay!" He didn't need to look to hear the grin on Kyuu's face as Kyuu suddenly sat down in front of Ryuu. "Now stretch your legs out."

Ryuu did, bending his knees slightly to accommodate for Kyuu's body in between his legs.

"Hee." Kyuu not-quite giggled as he leaned backwards, pressing his back against Ryuu's chest, pulling Ryuu's arms around him in an almost-embrace. "See? Now there's room to stretch out. This okay with you?"

"... Yeah." Ryuu agreed, trying hard not blush.

In the middle on a class about seduction, Kyuu leaned over and kissed Ryuu.

It was wet and sweet, Kyuu tasting like the ramune candy Megu had shared with everyone earlier. Ryuu hadn't been able to get passed his surprise to do anything other than stare, body frozen incase he scared Kyuu away.

His classmates were not under the same petrified spell however, and screamed loudly.

Kyuu drew back, looking confused as he licked his lips a bit.

"KYUU~u!!!" Megu shouted, standing up.

"What?" Kyuu asked as Ryuu finally gathered enough brain power to blink. "If I kissed anyone else, they would have hit me!"

"... He's got a point." Kinta said sagely as Kazuma nodded, muttering under his breath about Megu's occasional violent tendencies.

"So." Kyuu beamed at Ryuu. "Are you going to tell me all your secrets now?"

Ryuu glared, pulling his dignity around him like an arctic shield. "No."

"There are only four beds." Megu said apologetically as they looked around the place they were staying to solve the mystery. Class Q of Dan Detective School had become quite well known and frequently asked for to solve tough cases. Unfortunately, the number of people of Class Q sometimes wasn't quite as well known as they would have liked. "One of us will probably have to take the floor."

Before Ryuu or Kinta could volunteer, or Kazuma suggest that they draw straws, Kyuu spoke up. "It's okay! Ryuu and I can share a bed!" Kyuu grinned broadly at Ryuu. "If that's okay with you?"

Ryuu tried not to stammer as Kinta, Kazuma and Megu all stared or smirked. "... If it's okay with you...."

"Yay!" Kyuu grinned. "Problem solved!"

Ryuu woke up the next morning, wrapped up in Kyuu, like he was the two-toned haired boy's favourite teddy bear. He couldn't complain about it, he had his arms wrapped around Kyuu as well.

"I don't get it." Megu sighed, handing Ryuu some papers to look over. It had been several years since Class Q had taken over as the head of Dan Detective School, most noticeably Kyuu and Ryuu filling in for his very large shoes. Kinta and Kazuma were teaching some of the classes today and Kyuu was out on a case, not having the temperament to deal with the evidently endless flow of paperwork that running a Detective school entailed.

"Get what?" Ryuu asked, leaning back in his chair.

"Why you and Kyuu haven't gotten together yet." Megu said in her best older sister voice as she put her hands on her hips. "You've been dancing around each other for -years-!!"

Ryuu smiled softly at her as he leaned back in his chair, absently straightening his tie. Megu and Kinta had started dating recently, so he wasn't entirely surprised by the sudden interest in his love life. Or lack there of.

"I don't know if he's interested in me like that." He said mournfully.
