Sniffed: Red musk, slightly spicy, deep - as in dark, lush, but not bright or sharp at all - floral. Mild tinge of sweetness, mostly from the musk I think. Not sure I would have pegged it as a Lily. No soapiness. Mature, sophisticated, complex.

Wet: A little more floral, almost greener, feels 'lighter' in colour, more green-white, less deep red. ( Read more... )

"Oriental woods, Asian pear, water lotus, almond."

Very classic, fresh and refined. The wood and lotus notes are the strongest for me. It has a very pale aqua feel. After about two hours, the almond comes out and warms up the perfume. The throw doesn't quit and it still going strong after five hours.

"Sakura blossom, ume blossom, sake."

Freshly floral and sweet with a little juicy undercurrent. It's surprisingly relaxing. Even after four hours, Hanami is true and going strong. Overall, this is the best Japanese-inspired perfume I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

BPAL description: Red rose, oud, plum, bergamot, and red sandalwood.

Sniffed: Extremely pale nearly colourless yellow oil. Fruity, floral, and woody all at once. The sandalwood is surprisingly strong and quite dry. I get every note except the bergamot. The rose isn't overwhelming by any means.

Sniffed: Deep cola-coloured brownish red oil; viscous. Herbal-medicinal with a boozy edge. It reminds me strongly of Bitters and a certain herbal cough medicine I've had, as well as a bit of Ricola cough drops. Heavy, sharp, a little mentholic, with a touch of sweetness.
