So. Back in my Alias days, when there was a 750 friend limit, I eventually learned an easy way to make room for people: I'd do a political rant. Ta-da, I'd suddenly have empty slots! It was fantastic ( Read more... )

I decided I'm only using my Special Republican Filter (lol) when I just really, really don't want to get preached at. Because no matter how respectful they'll try to be, they'll still come off as smug and preachy and sometimes I'm just not in the mood.

But most of the time I am going to go ahead and post without filtering, because as I've been saying for weeks now and as you've said here - it's my journal, I can say what I want. I think maybe I'll either preface or end every single rant with that quote, lol. Just to see how they react. /evil

Meanwhile, aww, I remember your Alias days, when I was all happy that you'd not only friended me back but were actually talking to me too. Heh. Look at us now!

I'm sorry you have to go through that. I'm a Democrat but I always like hearing about an issue from both sides, even if I only agree with one. It's your journal, so what's the point of having one if you can't say how you feel about issues like this? As long as you're civil, I really don't see what the problem is.

Ah, I miss Alias. The fic writers have dwindled drastically.

Too bad you can't double friend. I agree with your conservative opinions. So rant away, and know that there are others that agree with you. It is your journal and if others don't agree with you and drop you as a friend; it's their loss, not yours.

I don't agree with your views at all Jinnie but you were always a good friend to me back in the days of Alias and I still care about you as a person so I'm not going to just defriend you because I dislike your views. It is your journal and you have the right to write about whatever you please. Free speech after all.

Things I miss about the good-ol' Alias days:

1. Visiting your LJ on an almost daily basis & admiring the conviction with which you lived your life.
2. Sydney and Vaughn
3. Christmas music

I can't help but be moved by our new President. I may not agree with him politically on all fronts, but I find myself hoping that some of the excitement and hope I see being portrayed in the media will trickle down to my neck of the woods. Either way, although my visits to your page have become few and far between, I'm glad to see you're the same grounded individual who was not afraid of polite debate, or stepping out to voice what could be an unpopular opinion for fear of stepping on a few toes.

I still admire you greatly. Alias, or no Alias. :) Don't censor yourself. If you did that, you wouldn't be the "friend" I came to know and love during those good-ol' Alias days. :)
