My friend Bryan has brought it to my attention this week through MANY posts on his tumblr. That mountain top removal is a much bigger problem than I realized before. also what's shitty is that the EPA recently repealed an anti-surface mining law that required mines and their dumps to remain so far away from streams and rivers. thanks environmental protection agency, that made lots of sense.

I'm not too in the know about this, but I took Environmental Biology with a vegan hippie last semester and she talked about this the entire time pretty much. West Virginia doesn't have enough wind power or sunlight to be able to switch coal to those renewable resources. Which is why no one has done anything with it yet, I'm pretty sure. We're also probably the most stubborn and ignorant state ever.
