I know there's going to be more gut-punching angst before we're done but this part's just made me really, really happy. Thank you Jen, you're doing a stirling job of helping me not go more insane :)

There is certainly more to come - although I make no promises about its content...

I called Mercedes being a bitch. Unfortunately, I still think Kurt should have threatened her job.... cause that's just fucking unacceptable behavior on her part.

It's also her job! Kurt was prepared to drop EVERYTHING for Blaine, something that would screw over any career that he had as well as ruining his chances of being able to come back after he quit should he want to. He has commitments and contracts and Mercedes wouldn't be doing her job if she didn't make sure that he at least saw out the commitments that he'd signed up for.

And Blaine was a serious distraction from that. She's already seen Kurt run off with him, be so distracted he was unprofessional on set, and now he's throwing away a golden opportunity for... what? A boy? A fanHer job is safeguard Kurt's career, to work in his best interests and make sure that the image he is presenting is one that isn't going to screw over anyone - companies, films, Kurt himself. Her role as his PR/publicist is to make sure he's not professionally shooting himself in the foot - breaking contract or being distracted could do that ( ... )

It certainly seemed like she was trying to stop him. Agreed that Kurt needs to carry out the commitments he's already agreed to, but Mercedes shouldn't take it upon herself to control what he can and cannot do, when she doesn't even try to understand what he wants out of life.

Wanting fame and fortune is one thing, forcing it onto someone who is ready to give it up for a normal life is something completely different. It's his choice if he wants to go big, or go home... and if he wants to go home... she can't force him to stay in the industry against his will. Which it comes across as if she was trying to do. Trying to control what he can and cannot do as a person, and not just as an actor.

Kurt's already "run off" on her once with Blaine - he didn't even give her the chance to be OK with it, just ditched his phone and left! It's no wonder she isn't happy with him having contact with Blaine while he sees out his 'notice' as it were. She blames Blaine for Kurt's decision - is she wrong to? Kurt's leaving because of Blaine.

Is she wrong to be annoyed at the fact she's spent two years building him up, constructing the whole New York facade, only for him to go "see ya" when he finally hits what they've been working towards?

And who says Kurt doesn't want the fame and fortune? ;-)

I have to admit that this debate between you two have been the most fascinating, entertaining, thoughtful exchange I have read in a while.

I love that Rachel went to bat for them and Blaine gave Mercedes a smack down and my goodness, I can't wait to see what Kurt's first day at McKinley is like, lol.
