Title : A Series of Moments (or how Chris and Darren celebrated their third Emmy's)
Author : Jen
Rating : PG
Series : Like a Satellite & Chasing Daylight
Word Count : ~600
Warnings : insane amounts of cuteness and fluff, RPF...
Summary : Life is a series of moments. Some last for a moment, some last for a lifetime. These moments change and define us, they stick in our memories for the rest of our lives. Sometimes they are fleeting, seemingly insignificant but the consequences and effect they will have could last forever

Notes : so I apparently can't let go. These are a series of follow ups from the epic saga that began with nasonexyouswine's Gravity Thou Art A Heartless Bitch and ran through our dual narrative fic Like A Satellite & Chasing Daylight (link to part one).

There are ten parts and two "interlude" parts to this, charting what happens after.

Previous parts:
Moment 1 : how Chris and Darren finally started to talk to each other
Moment 2 : how Chris and Darren tried to spend as much time with each other as possible
The first interlude moment
Moment 3 : how Chris and Darren realised that this really was forever
Moment 4 : how Chris and Darren realised making assumptions wasn't always a bad thing
Moment 5 : how Chris and Darren realised things still weren't going to be easy
Moment 6 : how Chris and Darren kept a secret right until the last minute

"So you're looking stunning, as always!"

"What? This old thing?" Darren laughed, gesturing his new suit.

"But loving the accessories this year," the interviewer said, reaching out to grab Darren's flailing left hand. "Very chic."

"Isn't it just? An exclusive piece no less. Only two in existence."

"Congratulations," she gushed, dropping his hand. "Is the better half in attendance?"

Darren gestured to where Chris was giving his own interview a few feet away. When it finished Chris joined them, his arm slipping naturally around Darren's waist.

"So Chris, here as the guest for once?"

"Yeah, it's actually nice not to have the pressure on!" he laughed. "I just get to enjoy tonight and not have to worry about tripping on the steps or putting together some coherent speech."

"Way to make me feel better," Darren quipped.

"It's fine," Chris said, using his free hand to pat Darren's shoulder, "you don't have that worry either."

Darren mock scoffed at the mocking, shaking his head slightly.

"The smart money is on you again," the interviewer continued. "Can you make it three for three?"

"I have no idea," Darren said. "The response to the finale was amazing but the competition this year is fantastic. I like the idea of having a good night, anything on the top of that will be a bonus."

"What plans have you two got for the future then?"

"What... our plans or work plans?" Darren asked.

"Both. Either!"

"Well I'm working on a new movie at the moment," Chris said. "With any luck we'll have a shooting date within the next two months. Still trying to find the perfect lead though..." he sighed, turning theatrically to look at Darren.

"I've got no plans at the moment. I'm still trying to find a good role I can sink my teeth into. Nothing I've read so far..."

"Oh that's it," Chris sighed dramatically, attempting to pull away from Darren but he grabbed his hand.

"What about a honeymoon?"

"If we get five minutes," Chris laughed, his arm returning to Darren's waist.

"At the last Emmy's you two weren't even publicly an item. Been one hell of a year."

Chris and Darren exchanged glances and smiled. "You could say that," Chris said.

"Lots of fans here tonight though if the reaction to you two is anything to go by."

"Yeah, and it means so much to see StarKids and Glee and Evelyn fans out there," Darren enthused. "So many congratulations banners!"

"Plus a couple that said, 'told you so'," Chris laughed.

"Yeah, so... how long have you two been...? I mean, Darren you hinted with your announcement that it was longer than we might have thought..."

"How long is it now?" Chris asked, acting as if he were adding up some big numbers in his head.

Darren snorted gently; Chris' mental math was better than his. "I think you and I have been heading here since that first day."

"Ah yes. He flirted with me."

"I did not!"

"You serenaded me and flirted with me. A total stranger."

"You'd been stalking my YouTube videos before I set foot on set. For all I know you made Ryan hire me."

"Yeah, it was all part of some grand design to make you mine."

"Worked out well for you then."

"Exactly to plan."

The interviewer laughed at the banter, asked the obligatory questions about their outfits, then wished them luck - both for tonight and their life together. As she watched them go, fans calling out messages of love and support and congratulations, she smiled.

CrissColfer was indeed on. Long may it be so, she muttered to herself before turning to the next red carpet arrival.
