I actually came across that on my own, babe, and I was wondering if that was you. (Unfortunately I came across it after the comments were already closed.) It sounded like you - articulate, well-spoken, and perhaps more outwardly accepting of the [FUCKING STUPID] criticism from [FUCKING IGNORANT] people than you might have been.

Those people don't know what they're talking about. Don't they see that by attacking other feminists, by turning on other women (and not in the hot way), they're supporting the partiarchy far more than you are by enjoying your kink?

Hell, if inequality of power and of rights is a partiarchal state as they say, then they, by suggesting that they have the right to enjoy their vanilla sex without guilt but you've got to be sufficiently guilty before you engage in your kinky stuff, they are reinscribing partiarchal oppression. You aren't. They are.

They are also, by arguing that your personal sexual choices aren't "real" choices because they were made in a partiarchal society, not only suggesting that no choice

Hey, Heidi - the thing that just KILLED me about that discussion, and what's driven me away from IBTP altogether is the way that some of her hard-core (I assume) readers jump all over any perspective that's not in line with their own. They go on and on about the cultural hegemony imposed by the patriarchy, but here they are, imposing their own rigid set of rules. And if you don't agree, and if you don't conform, you're exactly right - you don't get to play; it's "Our way or the highway!" As one reader posted on my blog entry about the very same subject, that doesn't sound a whole lot different from what the patriarchy's selling... so I'll take a pass, thanks.
