Poppy has had an accident :( Somehow the dew claw (is it still called that on a rabbit?) on one of her forelegs has.. well, come off.. It looks like it's just been pulled off rather than snapped, I have no idea how this could have happened. It's broken right at the base though, through the quick, and she just has this little bleeding stump ( Read more... )

I can't help really but I'm sure she'll be fine. Animals are hardier than us humans.

It's ok, I'm not really expecting an answer. I'm just confused, I've never heard of anything like this before.. I mean I have the entire claw in front of me here.. *is slightly freaked out* I'm getting paranoid about vitamin deficiencies and such :(

Yeah, I'll try. She seems a bit better now, I think it's stopped bleeding..

och, doesnt sound good! :S Hope Poppy gets well. Are you going to take her to see a vet? What's inner-eye tissue?

She seems a lot better now :) And no, robably not, but I'm gonna keep a close eye on it for signs of infection.

That's probably not the right term :P If you pull down the lower eyelid slightly then (on a dog or cat) you can judge whether bloodloss is severe by the colour. Also works with looking at the gums, but that's darn hard on a rabbit :P
