{007} - [Action/Voice] - There's Some Science Happening

Sep 29, 2010 21:59

[ So, now that the Earthquake crisis is mostly over and the house back to some semblance of normal, naturally our resident pesky little Time Lord is restless again. He does not do domesticity, you see. He's been bonding with his daughter and doting on her, which is almost absurd given his track record. But what else can he do? He can't really play ( Read more... )

[ IT'S BEEN LIKE FOREVER SINCE I TAGGED YOU. ]

"Going with the flow" tends to be the right way of putting it.

[OH HEY SUP SPARKLEBRO]

I'd suggest the good old Latin saying carpe diem as a way of coping, but I suppose it hasn't exactly worked out all that well for me either.

[SUP ALIENBRO.]

This place doesn't approve of the typical ways of coping it seems.

[HOW'S THINGS? STILL FEEDING OFF THE WILDLIFE, THEN?]

Doesn't seem so, yeah? It's as if the moment people start getting comfortable something always - inevitably even, goes wrong. Least there;s never a dull moment?

An interesting question I think... Doctor.

I suppose these days... I mostly go with the flow, if only because I haven't found much else to do around here.

Have to say, over the past several months I've done a fair job of not getting used to anything - what with you know, the constant experimentation and all that. But I've noticed there are others who don't seem to mind living here at all. It seems a little, well, odd.

I'd like to say this isn't one of the more difficult situations I've dealt with but... I haven't exactly escaped now, have I? [Sheepish chuckle, there.]

And there's the other factor- Even if escape didn't seem all but impossible...

[He hums to himself thoughtfully, trying to find the best way to summarize his arrival in Luceti.]

When you don't have much to escape to besides a sucking chest wound and the cold, black void of space... it's not exactly priority one.

[Hey, at least he's keeping a stiff upper lip~]

Ah! Yes. So - you died, then, when they brought you here?

I was having a lovely reprieve from you irritating me, and learning how to set things on fire by waving my arm at them. But why not. I'm sure you have something unbearably interesting for me.

Oh - really now? [Color the Doctor intrigued - not that he entirely believes you, of course.] You'll have to show me that, then. Sometime.

Anyway - yes, I need to borrow you. And yes, you specifically. You might find this fun, perhaps? How good are you still at that whole... mind control business of yours?

Is that a trick question?

Not really. Come on, now, surely you're the expert! I'd like to try something, if you don't mind.

Brainwashing?

I've seen it before - more times than I'd like to admit, actually. Whole planets, even.

I've just been observing the behavior of several residents and it does seem like small levels of mind control might be a possibility.

I doubt that mind control has anything to do with it. Medial issues aside, did you ever stop to consider that some people here might be making up for lost time? And it seems to me like you probably don't know the circumstances of these residents that you've been observing.

[ And then more dryly: ] And if you've seen brainwashing a lot, then aren't you making mountains out of molehills? Not everything is black and white.

You don't find it strange, at all, that given the numbers of people who have come and gone, that very few - if any - have made serious attempts to fight back? Or infiltrate?

Getting restless again, Doctor?

Could say that. You know I don't do "bored".

No, I don't suppose you do. [Jack takes a seat beside the Doctor, trailing a hand down his arm.] Finding anything interesting to do?

Not lately, no. Just been doing routine maintenance on K9. He's a lot harder to keep up and running when made of very primitive equipment.

[He looks down at Jack's hand on his arm, then back up at his face. After a few blinks, he smirks.]
