I think that it might be in our best interest, at least for now, to come to terms with our being stranded here in Promenade. I perused the portal and noticed that while there have already been several attempts to return to our own worlds, there has been little to no real progress made.

[ Sebastian pauses, thoughtfully. ] .. a different approach ( Read more... )

That's definitely a pragmatic approach, if a bit on the negative side.

Mm. [ Smiles. He hadn't expected anybody to think it sensible. Promenade seems to have adopted some incredibly hot headed people. ] I know that it isn't what some people want to hear, now of all times, but we must move forward.

I can see the logic, but people as a rule generally dislike doing something that they might take to be the equivalent of giving up and being compliant.

I understand that. I just hope that everyone can take a step back, and realize that this, in the long run, will be for the best. [ Sebastian bites back a sigh. ] We haven't a choice in the matter, besides, as whether we like it, or not, we're stuck here.

Are you seriously suggesting we all just make friendly with the people that might have been responsible for bringing us here?!

No. Not entirely. Have you ever heard of a façade? .. adorning one may help us to acquire the information we, so desperately, desire.

A façade belongs on a building. What you're talking about is using a lie to get something you want.

There's got to be a better way.

It is the face of a building. Yes.
[ Chuckles. ]

Not at all. I never said that you must lie. It is, certainly, an option, but I hadn't condoned it.

Is there? If so, I'd like to hear it.

Or is, at least, very well-hidden. [ by someone or something very powerful, but she keeps that to herself ]

Mm, and entrance, or exit, must be someplace. It is just a matter of finding out where. I still believe that the mirror's got something to do with it, but I haven't the time to look into it, .. yet.

We all had to get here somehow, after all.

The mirror is the only thing that looks to be connected back home, but so far all I can get from it is that what it shows is not a lie.

Exactly.

Our portals, too, resemble something from home. I noticed a couple of strange portals, books and .. cellular phones. [ Slight pause. ] Strange. It's acting, solely, as a window, then. I just can't shake the feeling that I have about these mirrors.

I'm sure I'll be one of the few who agree with this mindset.

I don't doubt that, Miss. I don't think many want to admit defeat, .. not until every imaginable avenue is explored, anyway. [ He is shaking his head. ] But they may waste as much time as they like. I don't plan on trying to coerce them into following my idea, beyond this entry, of course.

They're welcome to skitter around the game board as much as they wish. If they want to play along with the player's plan, then by all means... let them.

[ Sebastian smiles. He happens to like the way that she thinks. ]

Mm. I haven't the time to spend tending to the pawns of this, particular, game, when there are plenty other, more important, pieces to worry about.

I completely agree with your assessment of the situation. However, I don't think much can be done until everybody ceases their panicking.

I am glad that there, still, exist people out there willing to think about the situation, rather than to rush head first into it. But I concur. I don't think we'll accomplish much as a whole with over half the population still in a panic.

Indeed. If they're still in the throws of panic by tonight, it may be best to ignore them for now. In the meantime, perhaps those of us who haven't lost our wits ought to get together and figure out a plan of action. I have already decided there are a few things that need to be accomplished; I just need help getting them done.

I think that that might be for the best. But until then, I would be more than happy to help you in any way that I can. It looks as though several people, us aside, think that this might be a suitable plan, too. I will see whether, or not, they would like to help out as well.
