[the video comes on to Eames wearing this worrying looking mask. He gives himself a moment for dramatic pause, and when he starts talking there's a twinge of annoyance obscured by an upbeat and entertained tone of voice]

A city-wide masquerade, mm? I must give some kudos to your dreamer, this is certainly more interesting than the standard fare.

Not quite sure what I find more worrying - your mask or the fact that you watch Eastenders.

It's a difficult show, I'll grant you that. It's almost as though the BBC went out of their way to produce something utterly devoid of any entertainment value. But I take that as a challenge.

At least Coronation Street has entertainment value and isn't just a showcase of the most joyless human beings ever dreamt up, leading lives of drudgery until their demise, however that end comes to them.

True enough. Though I'm not quite sure I could find it in myself to watch any tedious soap opera that doesn't feature the Mitchell brothers in all their violent glory.

[That's a wry look and Krypta's wearing her own mask, amused at Eames' words. Her greeting's one of sarcasm.]

Welcome to Promenade, one of the most weird-ass places ever. If the mask thing doesn't get to you, wait till nighttime.

What happens at night? I hope it's not a ball, I skipped out on my dancing lessons.

Well, far as I can tell, the ball doesn't involve any dancing. Or any dressy formal shit. One problem: you can't talk. Period.

And deprive everyone of my lovely voice? I think I'd almost prefer a ball.

It's the first time I hear someone calling them that. I think they're quite real, though.

[with what could be a slightly patronising tone:] Ah, but everything seems real when you're in a dream.

That's...a very interesting mask. ["worrying" is an understatement.]

What do you mean by "projections"?

It is something, isn't it? [He takes it off to look at it, and then puts it aside for the moment.]

Effectively, projections are T cells for your subconscious in the form of people. Sadly they rarely make for good conversation.

Ohh. [pauses]

What's a T cell?

T cells are blood cells tasked with the job of keeping you safe from infection.

No? And what do you suppose it is?

[give him a moment or two, he can't decide what exactly he thinks of that response]

[AND THEN utterly deadpan:] ... Real people living here.
