[Oh dearest Promenade, a new guest has entered your city walls and my is she ever so eager to speak at to you, and greet you as a friend! She is already fascinated by you, all of you, and here is dreamy voice chattering,]Oh fair city, you make my heart buzz and my soul patter. So many secrets hidden away in your glass frames and mortar pedestals. ( Read more... )

[Oh, great. Someone who can talk to dead people. Or she could just be crazy, Neku's not above ruling out either option.]

The first thing you ask for is a graveyard?

Yes, one can learn everything there is to know about a place from its graveyard. Where it has been and where it is going. It is a place of peace, with many friendly inhabitants.

[He's already not liking the way this conversation is going.]

Not sure how much help that'll be here. Or even if there is a graveyard. [He hasn't seen one, but he also hasn't been looking one.]

[It is more his tone that she picks up on than anything else, but she would gladly attribute it to supernatural powers,]

Don't sound so sorrowful, the grave is a wonderful place. The heart and soul of a city, there must be one somewhere.

[A very strange introduction, and having someone ask for the graveyard immediately on arrival makes him curious.]

There are no graves here. Death visits, but his workings are undone.

Deaths work is never undone, it always leaves its mark, there is no challenging that. I have been told the dead walk, but have been denied the details I crave. I have seen none of what I recognize as the Reanimate, how do we know the living from the dead once-upon-a-time? By stories and memories alone?

[Staring at you with giant brown eyes.]

They are resurrected, with nothing to show for the death except some small loss. And that too is returned to them, soon enough.

How cheap and ill-mannered that would be. I won't believe. The scar must linger somewhere.

As this is a dream city, I don't believe we can truly die here. Or so it seems.

So far I have seen no graves, but there are many mysteries.

No graves? There must be graves somewhere, they've just disguised themselves to fit in. The old ways must be kept somewhere... Where are all the dead mothers and absent fathers? Locked in closets maybe, stuffed in attics with their wasted bones...

If this is a dream, then we are not flesh and blood here, are we? If we truly die, our consciousnesses must return to our worlds, where our bodies are, or simply wink out, removed from this place by death and oblivion.

That said, you do have a point. Someone must have dreamed a graveyard here.

What does it matter if it is a dream? My flesh still feels, as does yours, I would assume. We are always dreaming, besides, there is no reality, only the places where our visions meet and the weak-willed concede to mediocrity.

Dead people all get to come back - like, poof, back all shiny and new again.

[Great. Another Aradia even if this Aradia hasn't died and gone all emo and crap yet. She does not need more ghosts haunting her ever again.]

So I have been told, but they must at least weep for it... This is all so horribly tedious, why would anyone want to live somewhere without death.

...some of the dead are currently wandering around, I'm afraid.

Shame you missed the fun a couple of weeks ago.

Yes, yes, yes, they are allowed to walk and they keep all their trappings and hear their blood in their ears, maman is quite jealous, but I confess I loved her cold hands and they are beautiful when they are frozen.

[She gets on with the dead, what can she say.]

We all have a personal acquaintanceship with death.
