day ℞ video ✘ look who's finally showing his face

Jul 17, 2011 19:23

[ The PORTAL turns on, video and all, to reveal a man with dark hair and glasses, his nose and mouth covered by a surgical mask. If any of the older residents are particularly good with faces, they’re likely to notice the striking resemblance between the man on the feed and one Heda Genero. They aren’t related, of course; it’s just another mystery ( Read more... )

Which question you want answered first?

... [ That certainly looks like a young Bruce Wayne, but it doesn't sound like him. While Crane certainly doesn't know where the Prince of Gotham was off to when everyone thought him dead, he doubts that he ever sounded quite like this.

That isn't stopping him from adjusting his glasses again, though. ]

As your answers will almost certainly lead to more questions, it might be prudent to answer them all.

Yeah, but do it look like I got all day? Here, the sun won't set for a while, we ain't drugged, and I don't know why you got a horse, but I'd make sure it weren't eatin' the sheets if I were you.

Yes, actually.

Why won't the sun set? [ And waving a hand at the horse to make sure it doesn't approach the sheets. ]

A... A horse?

[Hang on, processing that.]

I have no idea what that's about, but I have a meadow. You can put it there, if you'd like.

Yes, a horse. Black, if someone out there is missing one.

You 'have' a meadow? Does that mean you own it, or is it simply something you found one day? [ For all he has experienced so far (detoxing off of fear toxin in the Unnatural, not that he'll ever tell), Dr. Crane is still very much a skeptic. It's likely he won't believe that the places of solace are what they're said to be until he finds his own. ]

It's my place of solace, so yes, I own it. The horse is welcome there until it finds another home.

That's very generous of you.

[ Naturally, that makes him wonder why she's doing it. ]

Can I have some directions? I think the horse and I would both me far more comfortable if it were outside of this room.

[Have an angel eying you with MUCH MORE INTEREST than should or could ever be comfortable.]

If you need a stable, Jonathan Crane, I suggest you make one.

[ He works with the insane for the living, he's used to uncomfortable stares. His high position at Arkham also means he's used to people knowing his name -- though the fact that someone knows it here is very, very interesting. ]

I prefer leaving the construction to those best suited for it.

Imagine a stable and a meadow in your room. In this city, it's just that easy.

What man hasn't wanted to shape reality to his will, just a little?

I would rather the horse weren't in my room at all, indoor meadow or otherwise, "reality shaping" or otherwise.

[The man's resemblance to Genero instantly sets off alarm bells in Elijah's head, but...well, that could be a coincidence, couldn't it? Whether it is or not, he'd better tread carefully.]

The hell you got a horse in there for? [Well. A little carefully, at least.]

If I know why, I wouldn't have asked for someone to explain its presence to me.

[His tone does nothing to ease any suspicion in Elijah's mind that Genero got knocked on the head and suffered some acute identity confusion. Still, he supposes it would be best to go along with it for now.]

Well, I hear tell of people bringin' their pets an' such along with 'em when they get stuck here... You sure you ain't never seen that animal afore?

I may have, according to the emblem on its saddle -- it's a police horse. It certainly isn't mine, however.

Completely lucid, thank you. And might I suggest riding out on the horse.

Pity.

You may suggest whatever you wish, though that does not mean it will happen.
