[Today, a new feature has appeared in the skies above the city. Namely, a huge airship, floating up well out of reach of the buildings, held aloft only by a couple of helicopter propellers, generally just being a huge dick to physics. Below this, on a rooftop, Luca is fiddling with her PORTAL ( Read more... )

Maybe, why?

[He could easily make that distance in the suit if it's a one-off trip.]

[Carefully, thank to the suit, he takes hold of Luca with one arm, pulling her close as he blasts off and up, JARVIS in his ear feeding him information as they fly up in the direction of the airship.]

This is so cool!

[It is a large fluyt, with giant propellers off of the masts, a couple of cannon ports (though those are fairly obviously entirely decorative), a black cat carving on the prow, and what appears to be several rocket boosters attached to the back. The deck is wide open for landing on.]

It's probably one of the coolest things I've done in my life.
Quite, sir.

[And now it's Tony's turn to stare and yes, he has to take a circuit around this craft both before and after he drops her off because this is like something from fantasy and when he touches down again, he's beaming in wonder as the helmet is lifted.]

This thing is incredible.

[[ooc: speech written like this is JARVIS inside the suit.]]

Is someone else in there with you?

[... oh wait hey we're talking about my ship now. Promptly forgetting everything else. :DDD]

Isn't it great? It's just a cargo ship, but you wouldn't believe how fast it can go!

That's J.A.R.V.I.S - he's a computer system who runs the house at home but he's good to have in the suit as well.

[Tony will actually listen because stuff like this? Endlessly interesting.]

This is a cargo vessel?

A computer system's in there too? I thought those were huge and bulky...

That's right! It's for my grandpa's delivery service. Well, technically it's mine, but I need to use it for that anyway, so...

Not necessarily; some set-ups are huge but others are smaller. Depends on your resources and your skill level.

So where are you from anyway if you use things like this? [He spreads his hands to indicate the air ship in general.]

Huh? I'm from Gunbe, but doesn't everyone use them?

We've never had things like this outside of the realm of fiction. Some mildly similar things but this looks like old sailing ships from years and years ago.

[His PORTAL is brought out and there's some tapping as he brings up some navy warships, commercial cruise liners, a blimp, commercial aeroplane, a helicopter and some fighter jets.]

That's what we've got.

[Looking at these pictures. The blimp and sailing ships she gets, but the planes and jets...]

How do they work? They look weird, there's no way those could fly.

It's not something that's so easily explained up here. I can send some files over to your PORTAL or you can come swing by my place of solace or my place of residence here to talk more.

How about you show me around a little, it'll give me a better idea of how to explain what I've got in my world to you.

Then, I guess first stop is to the captain's quarters!

[The way she says 'captain's quarters' makes it pretty obvious she is so fucking excited to be captain, as this is the coolest fucking thing ever. She heads to the back, where there's a door straight into the ship, as well as a door in the floor. Of course, she is ignoring the floor-doors in favor of the normal one to head into living quarters, etc, etc. Captain's cabin has a big-ass desk, as is traditional, with seafaring tools, compass, and a big map of the world covering it.

The map shows a world with what seems to be only three rather small continents, and a red line going all over the world with various dates marked at various points. The shown continents are far too nicely and geometrically shaped to even try to pass for natural land.

There is also a poster on the wall for some sort of sporting event involving half-naked men on flying surfboards. Probably better to ignore that one.]

[Tony follows around, grinning and nodding because it's like some weird mash up of nautical engineering and aero-engineering, unbelievably interesting and he'll definitely be asking for a return vist at some stage to have a real look through everything because there's too much to really take in at one go.

About the post though; Tony Stark does not ignore such things.]

Good to see that some traditions will always exist.

[He prefers busty ladies draped over cars but to each their own.]

Hm? What do you mean?

[Doesn't get it. :Db Anyway, she's grabbing a key from the desk, and makes a quick mark on the map while she's there.]

All those bare torsos on display. It's objectification and it's wrong.

[Totally teasing but he keeps his poker face on.]

This map show where you're from?
