Knife making class wrap-up.

So, I spent all week taking a class in knife making. Instruction was a bit rough, and not as efficient as my ideal, but it was still good. We made one knife to "utility" grade (not finely polished, etc.) to do the cut/chop/shave/bend test with. It was this massive blade almost 12" long, etc. We had to cut through a hanging 1" hemp rope with it ( Read more... )

I think it's unfortunate that you had to bend it in that direction. Would almost be useful as a machete/scythe if the bend went the other way. Waste of a good knife, unless you know some left-handers who would want that sort of thing.

If I'd been thinking it through, i could have bent it the other way. Don't think it matters much.
