He's very British in this series, but still oh, so handsome. And that little smile still slays me.

He IS British, despite what the passport says! That's part of his charm, of course!

Yes, he is. But he acts very British in Trainer.

And David would be charming, no matter from whence he hailed, I'm sure.

Thank you for sharing this. So interesting and very handsome that Englishman!! He looks so adorable in the #1 shot wearing that cap and driving the car.

What year was this Series?

1991-1992 on BBC. Did you see the post on the first episode? If not, click on the 'trainer' tab.

I love that hat! David wears it with such style...

I know I should be used to it by now, but I am still struck (specially in this series) by how young he looks. Monkey glands or hidden painting in the attic--whatever magic he's got... he's got it in spades!

*sighs happily*

I think I prefer the painting in the attic theory. Wouldn't want those Amazonian tribespeople to suffer. Or the monkeys, either.

What strikes me is that he's just such the English gentleman in this series. I don't recall another role in which he's quite that proper.

Well, except Ducky, and he's Americanized to some extent.

The closest I can imagine is Charlie, from 'The Man Who Lived at the Ritz' (but I think he was supposed to be French?) Certainly this role was far more genteel than Quint in 'Mosquito Squadron'.

Oh! Let's not forget Sir Henry Curtis in *Giggle* 'King Solomon's Treasure'.

John Grey (even has the right last name for 'the Dorian's Painting Theory'!!) is too smooth!
