SQUEE! (No spoilers in post but MAJOR SPOILERS IN COMMENTS.)

Jun 05, 2007 20:18

I finally saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End! I've seen a lot of folks grumbling that they didn't like it, but I did. I really enjoyed it, even though one thing bothered me a little: Everyone was constantly filthy and wet. I mean, much more so than in the first two movies. I know they're pirates but COME ON, people! :P This movie ( Read more... )

It also helped change my (previously solid) opinion about the ending when she told me about a scene that had been cut for the movie due to length; if they had left this scene in, it would have explained a lot and there'd be no question which ending to believe, because the writers basically SAID "it was this way. PERIOD." It was a 3+ hour movie, but I didn't feel like it was that long, which I take as a good sign, but if they were going to cut for length, you'd think they wouldn't cut a piece of a plot point out like that. =/

Don't ever feel badly about leaving long comments, hon; I'm queen of them myself. :D And I didn't think you stomped on my squee. I was laughing my ass off at your Keira hatred. XD I never understood what people saw in her. I guess I kind of got used to her over time, but for the first movie I could hardly bear to watch her. I've sort of accepted her as a necessary evil to endure for Pirates ( ... )

yeah, the storm didn't even cause them damage or trouble, like no one even got sucked in! useless. Calypso was really anticlimactic. i think they should have just left her Tia Dalma, they didn't really even need her to be anything else. It was just wasted and dumb.

Sao was disappointing too! I mean I love Chow, and he was great, but then he just died. It was sad. They could have had some fun with him! and gross, why did he had to go after Elizabeth? we all know he was bonking Will anyways....

Disney is such a whore, cause they allow all this violence but GOD FORBID there be an incling that Jack and Will are fucking, even though we all know they are! Please, real pirates? Will would have been the Boat Bitch.

I liked it better when Will would live forever and have only one day at shore every 10 years. That was unexpected and fun. oh well

I dunno, I'll see it one more time and plug my ears when "It"comes onscreen, and mourn Norrington again *snuffles*

Really glad you enjoyed.. and yes, movie food is insane. I always try and take a drink with me - I'm cheap that way!!

Now, see, I'm confused. I have read your comments and others and I thought I had it but now I don't know. I thought...

That Will was now the equivalent of Davy Jones and got one year on land for every ten at sea. I understood that at the end he was coming back to see Elizabeth (plus one) for his one day. Is this vaguely right?

I also thought that as Jack was going off looking for the Fountain of Life that would work well in terms of giving Will back his humanity/life.

If you wouldn't mind.. can you share what your dilemma was regarding the ending? I'm worried I've totally misunderstood the whole thing!!

But yes, I'm delighted you enjoyed going and liked the movie :)

That Will was now the equivalent of Davy Jones and got one year on land for every ten at sea. I understood that at the end he was coming back to see Elizabeth (plus one) for his one day. Is this vaguely right? - That's right.

Although recent posts on Word Player (where Ted & Terry frequent and post about the film) says that the little green flash we saw at the end was meant to signify Will's return to normal life and having ended his tenure as Captain of the Flying Dutchman. In that Elizabeth (and Will) had remained faithful to each other for those ten years and now Will would be able to return to a normal life on land.

I also thought that as Jack was going off looking for the Fountain of Life that would work well in terms of giving Will back his humanity/life. - I thought it was the Fountain of Youth, or are they just the same thing ( ... )

I have long had a problem with the script writing which does at times verge on incoherent but the green flash?!?!? I thought that just meant the arrival of The Dutchman. But I see Illuminated has posted above that there was a missing scene which explained more. So that makes me feel better.

Yes.. I think it probably was the Fountain of Youth and not Life now I ponder it. I did comment to the friend I went to see it with that Elizabeth had clearly been at the Oil of Olay in those ten years *g*

I do believe I shall merely let the intricacies of the plot go and just enjoy again my mental image of Will in that billowy white shirt and bandana up in the rigging after the green flash. That makes me happy.

Illuminated_sin.. sorry for rambling on in your journal :)

I thought that just meant the arrival of The Dutchman. - Remember when Pintel spoke about the flash for the first time? He said it signified a soul crossing over from the other side, which was why we got that green flash when Jack came back from the Locker.

So if that holds true, then the green flash before the Dutchman appeared means that Will has come over from the other side.

I don't know much about this missing scene, save that I've heard about it. One can only hope that maybe they bring out a Directors Cut, or maybe put it in the deleted scenes bit of the DVD. :)

I did comment to the friend I went to see it with that Elizabeth had clearly been at the Oil of Olay in those ten years *g* - *grins* So that's what Will's been up to when not ferrying souls between the worlds. Tracking down the latest anti-aging cream (let's face it, there's nowhere he really can't go to find them) and sending it Elizabeth's way in a care package (with some things included for Will Junior). ;)

That makes me happy. - Hear, hear ( ... )

So true! The first Pirates was on free to air the other night, and i was watching going: 'AWwwwww! he's still so new to this kinda thing!'. I love the scene where he's in the Govenor's mansion for the first time and buffs his shoes on his stockings nervously. So cute!

0_0. So jealous right now. We have things like that but we have to pay HEAPS to be able to enjoy it. *Sigh* That's alright. Most of the time we just sneak in stuff that we've bought cheap at the supermarket. Heeheehee.

Im glad you had such an enjoyable experience too. It really makes a movie special when your in such surroundings. Can't wait for the dvd to come out. And i really want the soundtrack (though i nabbed it from an lj community who'd posted it *G*)! "Hoist the Colours" has been in my head incessantly!

LOL! Glad I'm not the only one who's had Hoist The Colors running through their head since seeing the movie! :D

You know, with as many times as I've seen the original Pirates, I don't remember him buffing his shoes on his stockings. I remember him breaking the wall sconce off, and flipping the sword, and walking down the front steps with that sweet lovesick look, but I'll have to watch it again and look for that. I love observing mannerisms and it bugs me that I didn't notice!

movie tickets are expensive here -.- 9,50 euro which would be around 12$ *sigh*

Wow. $12 is a lot. We still have some theaters that show movies for $2-4. Unfortunately, they don't all show the NEWEST movies; usually they've been out for several weeks before they arrive at the bargain theaters. But if you go to shows before the evening crowds hit, you pay matinee prices. The $7.50 was matinee price (regular is $8.50) but some places around here have matinee prices as low as $4.50! I didn't find this out until I met my friend for the movie today and she was surprised that the matinee at this one was so expensive ( ... )

it is damn expensive, that is why i go to the theater so seldomly. i mean then you want popcorn and are up to 20$ *shakes head* way too expensive for a poor student.

ooooooh the leg was great, yes. i simply imagined it to be jack's leg rofl
oh my god a serious sex scene *already faints* i've only seen the director's cut of KOH once (it is so much better than the cut version me thinks!) but i haven't paid attention to those things *gasp* now i need to watch it again today *squee*
and me too, me too...*sigh* *pokes orlando*
