Those of you who know me

know I'm such a sucker for the underdog in any situation. You might understand, then, why I've watched this video dozens of times in the past two weeks. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and watch this chubby, gray-haired lady who admits she's never even been kissed and who lives alone with her cat -- and who can belt out this song ( Read more... )

wow, links, music, video

People at work have been talking about this (all good, nothing too bad, and they have similiar comments to the judges), and since I don't watch the show I've not been able to see it before now, so thank you for posting the link.

It was really good to watch and good on her for being able to do what she did that night. :)

Heeee! Three more days. Should go quickly. I'll think of you on the 24th. :D

Oh good, I'm glad you hadn't seen it before and you got to see it tonight. :) It made me feel so good to see everyone so surprised, but frankly I didn't know why everyone was so down on her to begin with. :-/ I mean, why couldn't they believe this woman could sing when they hadn't even heard her yet? And for two of the judges to say everyone was laughing at her, everyone was against her, etc.? What was that about? I dunno, maybe I'm just not as judgmental as the average person or something, because I saw nothing wrong with her so I had no reason to be stunned when she didn't suck. Of course, it was nice seeing her surprise everyone else, but sometimes I have to scratch my head and wonder why people are automatically so against people before they even know them. :P

I have one HUGE project due this week in my psych class and my final exam to take in my algebra class, and I'm DONE. I can't believe they had the nerve to spring this huge project on us with 3 days left to go, but they did. Ugh. At least the final is open-book.

I think it has, in my opinion, something to do with a combination of (a) how she looks (having not watched the show, I might be wrong, but not many older people tend to get up and do these things. It's normally the younger generation. And at first glance she doesn't look anything special. She's the gran you visit for tea and biscuits on a weekend.) and (b) how she came across ( ... )

Oh good! I'm glad I'm not the only one who teared up while watching it! It really affected me so much that I watch it again and again from time to time just to see someone triumph over daunting odds. It's a nice change from tragedy. :)
