Just out of the blue here

Jul 13, 2008 02:50

I wondered just now why we say "OrliBean" instead of making it "ShOrli" or Bleen or something. I mean, yeah, they sound silly, but that's what we do with other names. Viggo + Orli = VigOrli. Sean + Orli = ? o_O Doesn't it seem like it should be Shorli then? How did it get to be OrliBean?

::wanders off, muttering in confusion::

orlibean, questions

Maybe it's just a matter of having the made up word roll smoothly off the tongue? Viggorli, Orlibean, Banabloom, Bloman, Turrow, Bloomenhall... they all roll off the tongue very easily.

I suppose we could call it Bloomensen and Blooean if we want to continue on with the last name thing... but they don't have quite the same ring as Viggorli and Orlibean.

Yeah, and ignore that it sounds like someone with a speech impediment trying to say "spleen". XD

I honestly have no idea. I've not always been into Orlibean, so I couldn't trace when the name came into useage. *ponders*

Maybe doylebaby might have more of an idea...

I'm having a thought, Barbossa... (not that I think you're anything like Hector, but the saying goes well with your icon)

What about... Orlibean came about because they needed a way to make sure people didn't get confused and think it was an Orlando/Sean A fic? (okay, I think I just made myself nauseous even THINKING about that)

I considered that, actually, but then I realized I don't know a single person who has written or read an Orli/ Sean A. fic, and I don't know if anyone actually writes it. Certainly no one (that I'm aware of) in our circle does. :P

But even so, wouldn't that be Astaloom or Blastin or something? o_O

You're making the nausea worse, making me think about it more, Sinny. *g*

I think I saw something somewhere, once, that was Orlando/Astin... but I shuddered and hurried past.

It's far too much fun to bash hell out of Astin than to pair him with someone! LOL

I don't dislike the guy, but I just can't see him actually having sex. Don't try it! ;)

While I don't have an answer to your question, I must say I've always wondered who came up with all those names and why we, as a fandom, spontaneously started to use them. I realize more than one person must have been behind them, but it's still funy to see them being used everywhere around the net now. *g*

Orliwood would've been funny, too XD.

Or it could have been Bloomwood.

I have no idea how they started but now they're so deeply ingrained that I know there's no hope of them changing, even if we wanted them to! ;)
