She'd gotten the flowers but hadn't known what, exactly, was appropriate to do with them. She hadn't wanted to throw them out (though Will had wanted to) but as a married woman, receiving flowers from an ex probably wasn't proper even without hers and John's specific history.

"Thank you for coming, Helen," he said, smiling as he stood when she neared. He knew that she would, although he half expected Will or Kate to accompany her. He was glad that if she had brought them, they were at least waiting out of sight.
