today dov charney came into work and started to clean the change rooms with a compressor, screaming, 'you gotta clean this shit!' as a shower of dust fell down on all of us.

but the highlight of my day was when someone asked me to help them find a shirt that wasn't indie or gay.
exact words.

hey mari, was was the fine arts cultural studies program like at york? was it a combination of fine art training and cultural studies theory?

in all honesty, facs was love/hate for me (mostly hate). during the program, i disliked a lot of my classes because of the overload of theory...but in retrospect, i wouldnt be able to get to grad school without it, or build my portfolio without the multimedia classes i took. if you do end up in facs, i recommend going the multimedia stream (only because i enjoyed all that stuff, and the prof i had). to answer your question, yeah, i think it is a mixture of both...the best part about facs is that you can take a lot of electives.... to me, that's also the worst of it, because it's not very specified, and when you're done the program... you kind of feel a little lost not knowing what to do (knowing a tiny bit of everything, without quite being an expert in anything). i'd recommend it if you are really goal oriented, and have a vision of what you want to do with the degree, otherwise, you could end up a lost puppy dog. :)
