I can theoretically get the appeal of wing!fic with fictional characters who are animated, drawn and static, or literary. But you get real people involved and my "physics do not work that way!" meter kicks in, and hard.
Yeah. I'm the same. I think also the fact that I grew up reading the Animorphs books where people turning into birds was a common thing so I just stare and go "um, why aren't they birds instead? That actually works more than clunky humans and you know, laws of gravity and physics?"
And maybe 'cause wings -> angels -> I had 4 years of Catholic high school and I am still a little o_O "Uh." when it comes to angels.
I didn't think I'd like wing!fic but it turns out that I'm completely in love with it.
Every so often when I'm going through pictures and I come across that second to last one I stare at it for a bit in the hopes that Jared's pinky finger will move and curl around Jensen's sleeve and either just hold it or tug on it a bit. So far that has not happened.
I used to not get the point of wing!fic -- "they have wings? Okay. Then what?" It just wasn't my thing mostly because I guess I expected more use out of them (since from the stuff I read it was a case of being turned on... why not attempt to fly, etc?) SERIOUS BUSINESS.
Now whenever I look at that pic I'll think of that too. Or at least imagine that he did that before they took the picture and that is why Jensen is gleeful. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
Yeah, it does seem a bit odd that that's rarely if ever mentioned because it seems especially with Dean that after the initial "Holy fuck!" "What the fuck" -ness of the situation Dean would run right out and jump off something to see if he could fly. And after he crashes and hopefully just bruises and not breaks himself Sam would come over and tell him he's an idiot while helping him. Dean'd be all huffy, "I have WINGS Sammy, what the hell did you think I was going to do with them? Yank one out, dip it in ink and write you a love poem?"
Dean would TOTALLY DO THAT. Man. See, that kinda thing needs to be written more often in wing!fic. Or maybe I'm not reading enough of 'em.
Ahh, Dean's always getting screwed over. I have this urge to torture Sam a little bit to balance the scales. Torture with LOVE. (Ha, uh, after the current stuff I'm doing though, kthx.)
He was FANTASTIC. I was happily surprised because he and Evan Rachel Wood were my main concern -- film's supposed to be centered on them (even though it wasn't really.) When he told Lucy she had perfect teeth I kind of died a little with glee.
I agree re: the acid trip. It looked like they were trying too hard? That and I kept thinking about using a Difference or Exclusion filter in Photoshop for the whole bus trip. (Plus, after one has seen Magical Mystery Tour, all other trippy bus trips fail in comparison.)

Although every time I think of them in the Impala I kinda wince because um, Sam's a cuddly giant.
This is why I support sex on top of the car. Could get burned, could freeze up on the surface, at least the limbs would fit.
I think about these things too much.
