slash small? The Trek newsletter I read has het and slash and there's mostly twice a much (at least) slash as het posted.
Also I resent the implication that Kirk and Spock couldn't honestly be gay or bisexual, because if one watches TOS that's not so out there at all. There will of course always be slash about heterosexual guys rewritten as gay, but some might actually, you know, BE gay (also I think slash-fic about canonically gay characters counts as slash too), which is one of the reasons I didn't like Spock/Uhura on a meta level, because the only way to keep the Spock/Kirk relationship at least open to interpretation is to break up Spock and Uhura in the next movie (or have it happen offscreen).
I am kind of headdesking over here. Seriously, lady, way to fail at properly explaining slash... she made it sound like some kind of marginalized, deviant activity that is only conducted behind locked doors, ugh.
