*flailing in articulate rage*

Grr! I dragged my ass out of bed on election day PURELY so I could go and vote for someone who wasn't BNP (And ended up voting Green for...some reason)! AND THEN THIS HAPPENS D:<

EPIC FAIL, DEMOCRACY. EPIC FAIL.

This.

I know it's a combination of voter apathy and the worrying trend to the right that's slowly infecting the UK, but still. For the first time in my life I'm seriously considering emmigrating.

To Mars.

Mars sounds good. Maybe Dr. Manhattan had the right idea after all

BLARGH! I was just hoping and hoping and hoping this WOULD NOT HAPPEN!

No, no, you stay and fight. I had considered a move when Bush got elected to his second term, but I figured if I left, there would be one less voice ringing out against the stupid. I even had offers of a place to live and a spot for my horse in the UK, and one in Canada as well.

Frustrating as hell though. Seriously. I don't understand how people anywhere can vote for frakking fascists after the havoc they wrought on the world. GAK!

Here's hoping the BNP asshats prove what they are early on in their terms so people don't give them a second chance. I have to believe that most of the people voting for them did not know what they were actually voting for, or I start to lose hope a little.

I am so sorry my friend. I know that you and others tried SO HARD for this not to happen. I know the feeling all too well.

I was only joking about emmigration, hence why I proposed Mars! I know full well that the whole damn world seems to be going to hell, but hopefully there enough people of a sane and rational disposition to stop this going too far. Besides, for all its faults, I love this insane little island, I'm not going anywhere. :)

I know you were joking. I would never live anywhere but the US either. For all its faults, I love this place :) I want to travel all over, want to see this amazing world, but I want to roost back in Nebraska.

I think it will be fine. It is a shock to be sure, but I think the rest of the EU folks will be like "Um, no..." if thy start to get a little too crazy about things.

Still sorry it had to happen though. I think they will serve their terms, not get elected again and fade into obscurity like they deserve to.

Tell me about it.

I think we need to get all the groovy people together, and work toward colonising a new world ASAP!

It's my region too, somehow that makes it even worse. I just can't believe there are 120,000 people living near me who are
that ... words fail me.

*Looks for silver lining, squints hard through rose tinted spectacles* Maybe it will be enough to shock people into going to their polling stations for the next elections, the turn out was terrible.

We can only hope. I do really hope that voter apathy is to blame for this, and the council results, I'd hate to think that it was because the majority actually want them there. *shudder*

Supposedly there was no increase in votes for the BNP it was instead that so few other people voted.

It makes me mad that far right wing facist idiots can walk to the polling station, but so many people who realise that they are wrong can't be bothered to turn up.

Stupid Yorkshire and Humber, what were you playing at?!

I can't really complain since I didn't vote, but still. Who the fuck votes BNP?

Enough people to get them in apparently.

I'm still reeling from it, I know there are the Daily Mail readers and their ilk, but still, I thought as a nation we were better than this.
