from what I understand, the guild originally was formed to deal with the orb and keep it all a secret. Col. Venture wanted to try out the orb and he was killed, maybe Jonas Venture Sr. was killed for messing with it as well. at some point though, the guild switched over and started housing some evil dudes, maybe cuz they wanted the orb. we don't know yet. but then osi started up to counter the guild because the guild started being corrupt. I dont think sgt. hatred assign brock to keep an eye on the orb, im pretty sure it was hunter gathers. it seems though that all of this animosity between good guys and bad guys became exaggerated and more frivolous, during Jonas venture sr.s time, (Jonas sr. initiated the treaty of tolerance) possibly to further hide the existence of the orb. the show hasn't yet pointed out when or how the guild switched over to being just a bunch of bad guys, i mean, antagonists.
anyway, venture bros is awesome and the new episode is already up on adult swim. its good.
