THANK EFFING GOD. Finally someone who agrees with me! Ginny & Harry just don't work and your other couples that you've listed here are some of the pairings that I just don't like. And your reasoning is spot on too. A++++++ picspam!
Thanks! I tried very hard to be reasonable when posting why I didn't like them, because I can very easily just be like, "BECAUSE THEY SUCK, THAT'S WHY!" I'm glad I managed to do a good job.
My sister was all for Harry/Luna, too. Then HBP came out and she was like, "Pfft. No. Whatever."
It did look like they were heading towards Arthur/Morgana - they promoted it so heavily in the beginning of S1, and Bradley and Katie have such amazing chemistry. Not to mention that in some incarnations of the myth, Arthur and Morgana have a kid together. I think one of the reasons they abandoned Arthur/Morgana is because they wanted to focus on Arthur/Gwen, and they knew if Arthur and Morgana had any scenes together, people would be like, "Why aren't THEY together?"
I HAVE SO MANY FRIENDS OR FRIENDS OF FRIENDS WHO THINK STALKING IS CUTE NOW OK.
I don't know anything about Life with Derek, Merlin or TBBT, but 100% YES ON HARRY/GINNY AND EDWARD/BELLA. (Granted, I only read the first Twilight book, but it was enough. I was done after just one...)
UGH, Harry/Ginny. I don't even know where to START my rant on that. It was just that all of a sudden he was IN LOVE with her, and I didn't remember her being a big part of anything since CoS. Seriously, where did it even COME FROM? Ugh, there was way too much romance in HBP.
Yeah, HBP was like the year they discovered hormones or something. And then they went, "Oh, wait! There's an evil wizard on the loose! We should probably do something about that....sometime. Later."
I kind of enjoyed the first Twilight book, but then I read the second and noticed all the stuff I'd skipped past in the first one, and because I already had the third one I read that, too, but it was really hard and I wanted to throw it out a window. One of my friends wants me to read the fourth one for the lulz factor, but I just can't get through it. Even to mock.
That's why I tried really hard to sound reasonable. For 3 out of 5 of these ships, the main reason I don't like them is because I ship one of the characters with someone else, lol, but I didn't want that to be mentioned because there are other, perfectly valid reasons why I don't think they work. Also, I can very quickly morph into going, "THEY SUCK AND THEY JUST DO!" but I thought I should try to be civil. ;)
I actually don't think they have very good chemistry at all, which is weird. Angel and Bradley I think have excellent chemistry, but with Arthur and Gwen, everything feels forced and flat, and I always figured that was because Bradley isn't such a fan of the way they've done the pairing.
I mean, to each his own, of course. I just think that since they are, as a couple, such a vital part of the legend, the writers should have done a better job. Just because everyone knows they eventually get married doesn't mean you don't have to work on it!
