First one seems very red hued to me. Overall that's not bad, but it gives me a bit of a monochromatic feel, like, the colors don't "pop" out at me. The texture you used on top doesn't really match the icon; it looks a bit like very faint scribble, and the flower doesn't really match the expression in the icon.

Good crop, nice "pop"y colors, love the blues in it. Thing about this one is I'm not sure what's going on in the right side of the icon.

Ooo, I adore the third one. Really nice use of the black texture at the top, and the colors in this are lovely.

Not much to say about the fourth one, other than it doesn't really stand out. It's...kind of plain. I think it's the darker tone of color, but I tend to be a brighter color type of person, so that's just me.

Fifth and sixth I don't really have anything in the way of crit. The more subtle colors in these icons work well, and the flower texture in the fifth does a good job of filling out the empty space.

I tend to use that texture a lot since it's one of the few I have that actually seems to show up well. I definitely need to find a wider variety. ._. I get what you're saying about the colors, though. Any suggestions on how I could make it a bit less... overly hued, I suppose is the way to word it?

I'm not sure what's going on over to the right either. |D I'm pretty sure it's just the background/coloring of the original image. There's not any action going on or anything.

The fourth one I had some trouble with because the cap I used was naturally a dark one, and I'm not yet very adept at brightening up dark caps without making it look too flushed out or the character too sickly and white. How would I bring out the colors more if the image is naturally a dark one?

Yeah, I'm always looking to expand my texture collection, so what I tend to do is browse through other people's resource lists and then look through them; it especially works if you like the textures a particular iconmaker uses a lot, because then you can try to find the ones they use (or even ask where they got their textures from).

What I usually do with a dark one is first use Auto Level on it (and Auto Color too, if you don't like what Auto Level alone did). Then I put a Bright Blue Fill Layer (something around #0d19bf, though it doesn't have to be that exact color) and set it to Exclusion 100% over the Auto Leveled base (set at Normal). Over this I put the base at Color 100%. Over this I either do the base Screen 100% or, if the result is TOO washed out, Overlay (100% at first, but I'll lower that after the next layer). If I do Screen, I then do Pin Light 100% over that; if Overlay, I put Screen (and tweak the % according to the icon). Usually the Screen-Pin Light combo works best on live action subjects (example here vs ... )

1] I really like this icon and the bright colours, but I've gotta agree that the texture doesn't do anything for it ( ... )

Huh only 5 icons are showing up for me, and I think it's the first one that's missing so:

2. tone down the yellow in the skin. It seems overly bright in general to me but I think it's just the faces, so tone that down and it's a nice icon.

3. Can't think of anything to add.

4. Very plain. Needs some color changes or effects to spice it up.

5. Nice, the only thing that occurs to me is that the blue hair pops a little too much.

6. Can't think of anything to add.

don't listen to me I make horrid icons :D
