Potentially we could have a lot of fun here at iconcritic, but so far there hasn't been that much activity and 'not much activity' to me equals 'something's not quite right

hi there. i just wanted give my two cents worth, even though i'm no longer participating (didn't do so for any noteworthy length of time either). but, i really enjoy participating in your comms, i really, really thought the prompts were an integral part of focus in this comm. it seems to me if it's not included in the consideration for the concrit, why bother with it at all. it wouldn't be necessary to give the prompt even a nod in the resulting icon. otherwise, i am always open to concrit on my icons as i'm constantly trying new things and looking for ways to improve as well.
That's a very interesting point you raised and one I've come across at voting posts before where I know some people take the theme interpretation in consideration when voting
( ... )
Right. I never looked at it like that. But maybe that's because I see it more as an inspiration than as a challenge. If you like what someone has done with a theme you can definitely mention it, I was just afraid it would turn into a 'I think the theme could have been interpreted better' and that is something I'd advice anyone to steer clear of, since theme interpretation is so subjective.
That is definitely a good idea and it will most likely make the concrit that much better.
In truth, I kind of preferred the way you had it before - where we just had to be inspired by the previous icon. I would still enter, but I haven't had time lately. ):
To be honest, I prefer the 'inspired by' as well, but I'm already doing that at nexticon. On the other hand, here there's the added option of asking for concrit... I might put it to a poll. Thanks for your input! :)
I'd be interested in a post in which people volunteer to give feedback and then people share a few icons they'd like thoughts on - just because I feel like the person you get the concrit from can be one of the most important parts of the process and a lot of the time in this community people might not be getting it from who they actually want to hear from
also just another thought, if people were willing to put a cap on how many people they will give feedback to that might stop the more popular makers from getting overloaded?
But then I also think maybe this comm isn't the right place for this kind of thing? I don't know, it's just a thought I've had for a while, take it or leave it, I don't mind :P
