Help! I recently switched to a Mac, which seems to have different color settings for Photoshop CS...?

Whenever I try to work with an image, the final result always turns up darker than it actually appears online. I took screen-captures of what I see, and then what comes up in the preview window when I click the "Save for Web" option.

program error: photoshop, program error: mac

Really? Maybe it's just the saving option in PS that's going wrong for me. I dunno. :-/

AAH! You rock! I've been looking for that color management tutorial to put up here!

*high fives you*

That should help more than anything, I think.

Ooh, I think aquamarcia's tutorial helped a lot with the calibration of my actual monitor. Thanks!

As for the settings you have, do you have a higher version of PS? Because I can't seem to find the "Monitor RGB - Photoshop" option for the RGB working space setting. I have "Monitor RGB - Color LCD Calibrated," do you think that's pretty much the same?

Quite honestly, I like the second image a lot more (although I don't think it is darker in any way). I don't want to jump into a critique, but the first seems over-saturated, and the guy looks like he has a pretty bad sunburn. The second image looks more natural, but if you're going for a super-saturated look, you certainly achieved it.

Besides that, I think this is a "save for web" problem more than a Mac problem. (It also might be a .PNG problem, but probably not.) I'd suggest saving regularly if you're not particularly worried about the file size - it lends more consistent results.

Oh, yeah, I definitely exaggerated the coloring on purpose to illustrate what's happening in the program. I try to go more towards the natural colorings, but, obviously, their quality is often watered down significantly by the "Saving for Web" problems I'm having.

I'll try the saving tip, though. Thanks!

Agreed with the first part of orangeskirt's comment, COMPLETELY. It looks a LOT better in the Save For Web preview. I was just wondering if I was reading it backwards or not. lol.

Both Eva AND Daniel look MUCH better in the second image. The first is ENTIRELY over-saturated. The Save For Web preview is natural, and a very pretty coloring, actually.

On a side note.... Casino Royale = ♥!!

I totally turned up the dial on the saturation with that first one to show what the dealio is with my wonky SFW option, haha. I know the latter image actually looks better. ;-D

Just imagine how horrible it is when I try to save a graphic that has a natural coloring!

But YES. For some odd reason, I'd never watched Casino Royale until this past weekend, and now I'm absolutely in love with it.

Too bad the most useful comments here were deleted - I'm struggling with the same problem myself.
