Make this Icon! Turn:


TO




1. Open a new 100 x 100 image

2. Open your image and resize it. Drag it into your 100 x 100 image.
I got:



3. Duplicate (Ctrl + J) your base and set to screen.
I got:



4. Duplicate the screen layer twice.
I got:



5. Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Colour Balance.
Set to:
MIDTONES
Cyan/Red
-37
Magenta/Green
-3
Yellow/Blue
6

6. Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation
MASTER
Hue
0
Saturation
44
Lightness
0
I got:



7. This bit is optional, but i like the effect on most icons. i like to mess around with the settings depending on the base.

Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Selective Colour
CYAN
Cyan
100
Magenta
21
Yellow
-19
Black
6

(usually i mess around with the magenta levels, but when i did that for this icon it looked too pink [don't be afraid to experiment!])
I got:



8. Make a new layer and fill with #D7D6D5. Set to colour Burn. Duplicate it once.
I got:



9. And finally, for no other reason than i felt like it, I removed the Pope's shoulder from the background. I used the clone tool to do this.

And you are done!
