And now for something completely different -- WRITING!

Mr. Black,

You implied that these books were to be written in, yet I've seen hardly a word ever since receiving it. Did you neglect to mention how it is we're to speak into a book, or am I correct in understanding from all of the confused voices that this is not, in fact, a common occurrence ( Read more... )

What? I'm still trying to cope with the fact that whatever I write is not private.

Void, can't we just talk in person? It's irritating to think that whatever I write to you is to be seen by others.

And I don't think we can speak into a book... there doesn't seem to be a recording device. Well, we could speak into a book, but that would just result in talking to ourselves.

I was merely testing this book's capabilities, Ice. Anything else we can speak about in person.

Are you going to write in this often?

That depends.

It does appear quite useful for if we're apart and need to reach each other at the expense of privacy.

The journals are not normally so silent; but we enjoy rather too much communication already this week.

Yes - that is what Mr. Black told Ice and I we were. Did he misinform us?

[huge, bad ping.]

You named yourself Void?

Yes, for the 'lack of' a name or memories.

It seems like an awfully ominous way to put it.

Perhaps. Did you enjoy waking up with an empty head one morning?

[As she'd told Ice, Void is walking around the Bazaar inspecting shops. Just one among many, she didn't know what to expect when she walked into the Bookstore. She was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by walls and walls of books.]

Exquisite...

Book was presently on break, which consisted of eating a sandwich with one hand, and writing down the latest purchases with the other. He made a note to set aside a puzzle book and a mystery novel for Fred, and to put in a request for woodcarving books if any were found. Artremis was stocking some of the newer books they'd received, and heard the bell jingle, signaling that someone had walked in.

Artremis poked his head into the main area, waved at Void, and tapped Book on the shoulder. "We have a customer."

Void noticed the two people and walked towards them. "Hello - I'm new to this place and was advised to seek a place of employment that feels familiar to me." She looked around the room. "I don't know about familiar-" It's a little small, I think... "but I do love to see a place filled with books."

Returning her gaze to the two of them, she smiled. "I'm called Void. I'd appreciate your consideration in hiring me."

Book looked up, setting down the remainder of his sandwich. "Nice to meet you, Void. Welcome to the bookstore. I'm Book, that's Artremis, and we pretty much run the place ourselves. Loving books is definitely a plus, as is anything familiar. So, a few questions."

Book rose to his feet. "When can you start, are you good with people, do you get easily embarrassed by adult materials, can you stand the smell of glue, and are you able to handle odd hours? I open at 9 in the morning, and close late at night."
