Well my little experiment in homeschooling has come to an end. Oliver had a really tough (ok horrible) time in 7th grade last year so I decided to try homeschooling him this year. Well my work with RelayRides is coming to an end. I always knew there was a strong chance it would end by the fall, although I was a little surprised they didn't give me at least a week or two notice. I would have preferred to keep the job through a bit more of October at least, but it looks like my last day will be Monday - October 3. ( Read more... )

Well tonight for the first time in their lives, Oliver and Arthur are sleeping in their OWN rooms! They've been in need of this for a long time and they are so happy. I took away Oliver's cell phone for a week. He deserved it. First he was messing with his brother's art project last night while I was on the phone, and just ignored me when I told him to stop. I'm in LA! I'm pretty excited- I have never been to the West Coast. I got in last night so it was kinda dark but I could already see how different it was. I have mixed feeling about the fact that I encouraged my 11 year old (6th grade) to get a job this year. Mostly, I'm proud of him. He's doing great and it's been a positive experience for him so far.  Argh I had the most insanely awesome dream last night that all was in word for word prose as I dreamed it, but do I remember it now? No.  It was intense!  I tried to get up and write it in a notebook but even by then it was half gone.  I should go see what I managed to write down but I don't think I even got half of it. grrrrr.
