Long time no see!! That's really awesome that you got that internship! What are you going to be doing? Sorry to hear that you felt left out. If it's any consolation, I had the same thing at my church. Take a really shy person and then have all the people I know leave and throw her into a bible study...it's very hard. Glad that you are going to the guy's sunday school though. SHould be nice. Astronaut? Cool! Shoot for it if you really want to be that person. Why say you can't when you haven't tried yet...you may surprise yourself. ;)
i'd like to be an astronaut too.. but i'm afraid there is a height limit of about 5'8". you have to be a scientist to be on it and to drive, you have to have like 1,000 hours in the cockpit of a military plane.
a long time ago, i left the church because of the people, plain as that. they put too much pressure on you and i never agreed with any of them. i spent the whole day hanging out with my youth pastor once. we drove out to the beach in my jeep. he had an agenda and i didn't like it.
i encourage you to keep searching for what clicks and don't try to force clickage because it's counter productive. it's okay to take a break, drift around, leave one place, join another, or even find your own thing. just as long as you're focused. it's also perfectly okay to be selfish about what your needs are.
Thanks for the encouragement. I like to have a plan for things, which is one reason why I'm freaking out a little, but then I like to be able to be open enough for change.
I've learned that, no matter how well you plan things out, stuff is always going to come up that you can't anticipate. That's when the real fun begins. :-)
Hey, We've sucked you into media, now you'll never get out :)
It's tough to be a techie and "fit in". Actually, it's just tough to feel like you fit in (at Oviedo or anywhere for that matter). Since the services have moved, I feel even more disconnected from my peers as well. I find it odd that the people I feel most comfortable around are not exactly in my age group. I tend to be the younger one in the group. I'm waiting to see what's going to change once they bring in a new director, once that happens, you may see less of me in that little room.
