I'm kind of kidding about the apologies for gen. Although it is frustrating when I'm trying to write slash and it turns out gen, sort of like having a cake fall. But sometimes, the story's just better for it.
Still, the percentage of gen is very small. 24 of 170 fics are gen? That's... 14%.
Even smaller: I've only written four het stories. 2%.
Hey, if I were labeled like chocolate, would it read 85% slash? :D
No one should apologize about writing gen. I've done it intentionally, and I've done it accidentally (Damn that smut fairy when she fails to materialize!!!) You just have to go with the story flow. You're right: sometimes the story begs to be gen.
I've never analyzed my stories, but I'm probably running 52-48% slash/het. How would you classify trio?
Trio... hmm. I think maybe give it 2/3rds points for slash?
Hey, while you're here... would you happen to know any good HP gen fic? seticat asked and the only I can think of is called "A Year To Remember" or "One Year" something-something. I'm totally useless when it comes to HP gen recs.
