Actor and director Lionel Jeffries dies, aged 83, BBC News 19th Feb 2010

Only just heard this on Last Word, it amazes me how quickly they can put an obit together. I can but hope this means we'll get a retrospective of some of his films.

I believe they keep Obituaries on file for pretty much everyone who might get one, just in case.

I completely understand that for the 1-2 minute obituaries to be used in news items, but the Last Word is an altogether difference beast.

They do longer profiles, often with post-death interviews with close colleagues (and in Dick Francis' case, family) and only cover 3 people each half hour programme. I know, because my uncle-in-law was interviewed by then once, they don't get interviews on file 'just in case'.

Aaah, I didn't realise that The Last Word did that kind of thing. In that case I'm damned impressed by their research team!
