BEA 2015

BEA (Book Expo America) seems to be shrinking year by year, as large publishers decide it's too expensive and not worth it, and those who do attend tend to scale down their booths. It also makes it easier to cover the whole show (at least, the pieces that interest me) in one day. However, I didn't do much socializing. Ran into Circlet Press's ( Read more... )

Oh, darn, somebody ALREADY wrote a book on the science behind "The Big Bang Theory." Guess I'm too late.

I ran into a publisher acquaintance (a long-time, top level imprint/division chief) late last week in midtown Manhattan, and asked him if he was headed to Javits for BEA. "No," he replied, "the whole thing is a dinosaur. There are much better ways of doing business these days. I'd rather be at my desk, reading submissions." I haven't been to BEA in about 10 years, but I always enjoyed it, and did a lot of business there. I guess you are right that the times have changed.
