I seem to be on a roll with fandom-related posts lately, but I'm over bitching about my job (and I'm sure you're over reading it) so fandom it is

I think you many already know my opinion on this, but just in case you've fogotten :P...You and me couldn't agree more on this topic. I'm an attention seeking whore, too. I don't give up hours of every day to fulfil some sort of weird writing 'vocation', I do it to enjoy myself, sure, and sharing that with folks (and interacting through comments) forms a large part of that enjoyment. Anyone who writes or produces art who says diferent is a lying whore if you ask me.:D
I'm not even going to pretend that I don't care about comments. I love making stories, I love having them slosh around my brain, but writing them down is hard work and not always very satisfying. (The fact that English isn't my first language might have something to do with my feelings, I don't know.) If there's absolutely no one who is interested in reading it, why would I bother? I'd be quite happy just having the characters chatting away in my head. I write because I want to share -maybe not with a heap of people, but with someone.
Also, a lot of the time I write unpopular pairings and/or obscure fandoms. Am I not entitled to feel happy when I find out that there's someone else who cares about these things?
I like to think I'm inbetween. I do keep the email page open after posting fic/macros to check for reviews soon as, and it is a great boost to the ego if I get some.
But I'd never have a hissy fit at my f-list or the comm I x-posted to if my fic didn't do well. My last story only got one review( and it was a lovely one) which half of me feels is well deserved 'coz the lead character was OOC, and the other half...well.
And my overall goal is to become a Published Writer (TM), so that should be a step up in the world of attention seeking...
