Well done on a successfully survived sleepover! Although sympathies to poor Kate over the choice of movies. Hell, I'd sulk! How is The Princess Bride scary!? Peter Falk's moustache?
I remember fondly sleepovers from my childhood. Eating way too much junk food. Getting yelled at by the parents because we were being to giggly. Getting introduced to the hunkiness of Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing. I think we watching that movie three times that night. We were 13, what can I say?
Mmmmmm, Patrick Swayze!
Glad your daughter had a great night. And thanks for your post, as it has brought back many fun memories of my own childhood. :)
That just reminded me of one of my few distinct childhood sleepover memories! A wood-paneled basement rec room full of sugar-laden and sleep-deprived sixteen year-old girls, throwing pillows and yelling and screaming at Tim Curry in Legend for telling his minion not to worry about the other unicorn because it was "JUST A FEMALE". And yet even then, I thought Tim Curry was hotter than Tom Cruise.
I just found a wonderful book I think you would love - it's "Before I was Your Mother" by Kathryn Lasky. It's a picture book, but a very special one, and it made me think of you and your daughter. Heh, hopefully I'm right. :)
Anyway, if you get a chance to read it, let me know. They should have it at your library, or on Amazon.
