I have some rather fond memories of Woodfield Mall. For a number of years, Windycon was held at the Hyatt across the street, and I would usually go to one of the restaurants in the mall to get dinner. I also had fun just walking around the mall.
It was always a treat for me to go there--I've always lived about an hour away, but I have some relatives where this is their local mall. I know they took me at least once when I stayed over.
It is fun to look--it's one of the largest malls in the US. What's more fun is counting how many duplicate kiosks they have. I swear I saw three of one of them, this phone case kiosk.
From what I've read/heard, Woodfield actually has more retail space than Mall Of America. And I remember one of my earliest visits was when they were celebraating an anniversary, and they had a display of some of the mall's history. What impressed me was the photos of a full-scale house built inside the center court.
