Catholics coming home

I made it back! That's more of an accomplishment than you'd think.

Overall, camp went okay. It was more relaxed this year in a lot of ways with Mr. C being gone. He's of the micromanaging mindset, as am I, but in some ways it was nice not to have to deal with that. The flipside is that some things didn't get done, or weren't done in as timely a fashion as we should have done, but oh well.

The sucky thing was the weather, specifically the humidity. Holy hell. Like, the heat was tolerable, but with the humidity...we had two counselors and at least one camper go down, and then *I* went down overnight Friday into Saturday. Hello, severe dehydration. I had to wake the nurse at 3:15 AM to help me out because I couldn't sleep, the liquids I was taking in weren't staying in, and my hands were going numb. Fun! The directors even made me sit out the concert because I wasn't much better by the morning and they didn't want me getting sicker. First concert I haven't played. Slight bummer, but it rained, so I wasn't *that* disappointed.

The drive home was interesting. I thought about going straight home, but then I hit construction traffic and had to sit on the Borman for way too long in the hot sun (temp gauge read 95F) and decided to stop at Mr. M's at least for a bathroom break and to chill for a little bit. I ended up staying there for three hours, napping and watching TV and eating some salty snacks to get my strength up. I ended up being pretty okay last night, but I'm tired today and still not 100%. I just wanted to give a quick update and let everyone know we all survived. Some of us just barely, but we did it.

warm, weather, camp
