Suddenly, chickens!

It's Chicken Wednesday around here.

First, AOL had an article on children's albums this morning and mentioned Philadelphia Chickens, the Sandra Boynton kids' album. Then, a certain someone's lap chicken ended up getting mentioned during a conversation about California. After that, I decided to take the scenic route home. What did I see on the ( Read more... )

Sounds like you should go to KFC for dinner tonight.

I made chicken last night. Besides, if I go to KFC, I'd want a biscuit, and I can't have those now.

She's not really a lapchicken anymore, although she has developed some new and fun behaviors. Like flipping the fuck out when another bird dares to land in her yard. (Yes, it's her yard. She says so.)

It's pretty hilarious to watch her run over there in the crazy chicken manner, squawking as loudly as possible.

This chicken keeps getting better and better the more I hear about her. You now have a watch chicken. She may be as useful as a shih tzu, but dang it, she's protecting her territory. If only Kirby could do that.

Sadly, she only protects her territory when she is awake. Which is during the day.

Of course, that's good on the one hand - the neighbors don't complain about chicken flipping out on whatever random nightfauna enter the yard. On the other hand, we live in Davis. The worst that's likely to happen is one of the neighborhood cats gets into the yard and suffers a chicken-induced trauma. Because housecats are not prepared to deal with Lady Chicken von Cluckenfeather. She will straight up beat you. If you're not willing to fertilize her eggs, of course. She's polite enough to offer that opportunity most times.

Which is creepy.

Aw, she got a name! :)

And, um, that last part reminds me of the overly-friendly kitty on South Park.

I'm surprised they didn't mention Dog Train by Sandra Boynton. Its chuck full of popular artists. We of course own all three: Rino Tap, Philly Chickens and Dog Train. But Philly CHickens was our first and still our favorite. And Pig Island is a very good song...it helps us get Ben to sleep on car rides, we used it last weekend!

The article wasn't just about children's albums; it was about the unusual collaborations that appeared on the albums. For the chicken album, the odd addition was Scott Bakula, the Quantum Leap actor. (And the review says he has a nice voice.)

i read the article...i guess pop stars all doing an album together doesn't make it that unsual.

I knew Bakula has a good singing voice. He sang in several episodes of Quantum Leap, most notably one that featured the musical Man Of La Mancha.
