They do lots and lots of those these days, so they know what they're doing and I'm sure your grandfather will be just fine. Nonetheless, it's a scary thing. Believe it or not, I went through 2 of those with my grandfather, albeit I was much younger than you are now, so I didn't understand as well what they were doing. Keeping good thoughts going for him!

Thank you. He's pretty active, so in a way we were surprised that he's having such a serious surgery. But in recent years he's had both hips replaced and he recovered well from that, so there's no reason to think this won't be the same. One of my dad's coworkers mentioned that his father had the same surgery and afterward he'd never felt better. I have a feeling my grandfather's got some good years left in him, so this could only be a good thing.

(And besides, if this is Laura, you're always much younger than I am now ;) .)
