Second shot weekend

Mar 26, 2021 20:25

My parents got their second shots today. It took all of 35 minutes, which included their (brief) drive over and their waiting-afterward time. So far, they're okay, though mom's arm is sore. Dad heard from his friend who'd gotten his second shot yesterday; he fell ill by the evening, though we don't know to what extent. This friend's birthday is just before Halloween, and he was sick then, so dad's concerned since he too was sick shortly after that time, not to mention his mild illness last spring, and he didn't have a great reaction to the first shot. At least we don't have anywhere to go tomorrow, since I am working (thanks, year-end shenanigans).

Grandma goes for her second shot on Monday. We are hoping that goes well. Mom had thought it was odd that she hadn't heard from grandma all week, though today mom found out her younger brother had a COVID scare in the family care of his wife. My aunt fell ill and went for a test the other day, but it was negative for this virus; she has something else, but she had a decent fever so it was a concern regardless. I believe my uncle also went and also tested negative, so that's good. Due to how social they are in their normal lives, they are planning to get vaccinated, though like me they've been waiting until they were eligible, since they're both under 65 and have no underlying conditions. That's good to hear; with their religious beliefs, I'd kind of wondered. I'm sure part of it, too, is wanting to spend time with grandma. We're all looking forward to that again soon.
