They never cease to quack me up

My morning started off just ducky!

I was finishing my breakfast when my dad went over to the kitchen sink. He excitedly called me over, then said I should go look out the dining room windows. In the corner of the yard where the deck meets the house, there was a male mallard, just walking around. And, nearby, was the female. Hee! We watched for a few minutes as they slowly waddled around that portion of the yard, but eventually they turned around and went to visit the other side. They were kind of noisy, too, and when I went over to the farthest window in the family room, I could only see the female. I decided to peek into the dog run in case the male had gone in there--the gate was left open all winter--but I still didn't see him. Wouldn't it be funny if they went on the deck?

Around that time, dad went into the garage for a few minutes, and I watched the female, quacking away, as she meandered toward the deck, and then, unbelievably, hopped up the stairs. Oh my goodness, oh my goodness! I ran over and peered through the blinds--and found the male. He'd been up there. Holy crap. He was pretty close to the door, too. I rushed upstairs for my camera, and by that time mom wondered what was going on; she started watching them from upstairs. By the time I got back down, they were about to hop off, but I got one picture with them both on and then several with the male on the step and the female in the grass. Once he hopped off, or at least wasn't within vision any longer, the female went back over near the dining room and would not stop chattering. I ended up putting my camera on video mode to capture some of it. Naturally, she stopped with her peck-peck-peck noises within seconds, but I kept shooting her, and eventually she let out some loud quacks. My camera's battery then died, but as I went to get a replacement the male returned. They weren't there for long; they flew--

Hey, the male *just* flew past my window. Heh.

Okay, so right after I changed my battery they flew off to the north and I wasn't expecting to see them again, but I just had a fly-by. They're so amusing.
