[Caesares is on screen, surrounded by books. There is the faint sound of a record in the background, but it's quiet.] So that event was a flood, was it? I had heard of much worse happening, I must confess ( Read more... )

I'm Omega and I'm a Time Lord.

As for treating non-humans, if they're bleeding from somewhere, it's a good idea to stop it, otherwise, get someone to help you.

Pleasure to meet you, sir.

I was fairly sure that stopping bleeding was a standard medical procedure across the universe. Who is the best to ask for assistance on such matters? I understand yourself and Dr Smith are more qualified in them, but is there any others I should ask?

If you've never met people from other worlds before you worry about the basic things. Martha Jones, would be helpful too.

Even so, I would have guessed bleeding would be something to stop.

Dr Jones. Also noted.

I'm sorry I missed your arrival. It's always nice to have new faces in the infirmary.

I'm Svetlana Nazarova, a doctor in the infirmary. You'd probably know that if I had been around more these past weeks. I've been here for...hm...almost two years now.

There aren't really conditions other than that. People disappear, they have comas. Sometimes they come back and forget things. Not from comas, though. From disappearances. We haven't really noticed any ill side effects from the comas, thankfully.

It's something different. Magic, if you will.

As for treating other people, Martha has files in the infirmary about almost everyone aboard with that information on it so we know who can be treated and how.

As for your request, I'm sure we all would be happy to help.

Don't worry about having missed me.

Quite a long time, I suppose. A pleasure to meet you, Dr Nazarova? Am I right in presuming Soviet, or should I stop making guesses?

Forget things about here, or forget things in general?

So it is something inexplicable, and not just an advance in technology I missed? Very well.

Ah, very good! I would still prefer to consult someone with more experience of... those who aren't human. I am not sure if I would want someone who only knew humans through notes treating me. But that is most helpful.

Thank you. It is merely until I get used to the advances in medicine I have yet to experience.

Svetlana's fine. I was never good with formalities like that. And, well, for your time, I suppose it is. But, when I'm from, it's Russia.

Forget things about here. They forget their entire times here or they forget bits and pieces. Sometimes it comes back. Sometimes it doesn't.

And that might be better. Especially when it comes to Time Lords or any of the other races we have. But they all look human, so...consulting those files will let you know who you need to consult with a certain person.

That's understandable. We're all happy to help.

Russia, right. I will remember that. May I ask what sort of state it is in your time?

Are there any factors which depend on whether you regain memories or not? Are there any groups which it affects more than others?

Quite useful, I would think.

Thank you very much.

We met previously, but hello again. John Watson.

I wish I could help you with some of those questions, but I think I might benefit just as much from watching the responses of others as you will. One month is clearly not enough time to learn the infirmary and all the various medical quirks on the Barge.

[DOCTOR-WARDENS]

And happily. Can I ask...I'm just a little curious - how wide-spread was the use of penicillin in your time?

Hello again, Dr Watson.

I imagine we can both learn something of value from the others, as a month most certainly isn't long enough. You do seem to have to learn things at an incredible pace here.

[Doctor-Wardens]

Hardly at all. Several trials had been done since its discovery, but it was by no means a standard medicine.

I have since learned that it will become so in my future, but I've never used it myself. Yet.

Sink or swim, Dr Caesares.

[Doctor-Wardens]

That's fascinating.

And honestly, now's as good as time as any to start using it.

The odd piece of driftwood does no harm, though.

I certainly intend to, now I am more certain of its application.

We've met already, but I'm Will Parry. I'm fairly certain the stretcher is enchanted by magic, not new technology you'd be unfamiliar with.

As for the other questions, people occasionally vanish without warning and might come back without memories of their time here previously, or just partial ones. There's no way to predict when and how it will happen or how it will affect people.

And Omega's right, if a nonhuman's injured, do what you can and wait for Martha or Sveta or someone.

I believe we have, Mr Parry.

No way at all? It could happen to any of us? [erk]

Fair enough.

[Private]

Can I ask about your cat? Is that not considered, well, unhygienic? I mean no offence, it just struck me as a little unusual.

It's Will.

It could. It's probably best not to worry about it.

[Private]

[Hnnnnn.] She's not a cat. It's hard to explain.

Will, of course. My apologies.

...yes. Is it a frequent occurance? As frequent as these 'comas'?

[Private]

You can try me, if you wish. I have no problem with it, beyond issues of hygiene.

I'm from Earth. London, to be a bit more specific, and the year's 2010. Uh...when are you from? Don't want to talk about where I'm from if you already know about it.

I'm from Earth, in 1939. So your time would probably be quite different to mine.
