Spa Day

Sep 24, 2010 10:32

So my daughter has wanted to have a spa-day party for a long time.  A friend of hers held one, and she's been wanting to do the same for a long time.  SO...the room is clean, the homework is under control and...now it's a go.  I'm scared ( Read more... )

Play a Glee soundtrack. You will be safe with that one, as long as the girls fall between the ages of 8 and 35.
I do not know why they are suddenly the rage...but there you go. Glee for the win.

Have plenty of junk food, too -- Doritos, assorted flavored chips, assorted cookies and soda cans by the gallon -- not generic ones. As I am the queen of cheap, it pains me to say this, but you cannot cut corners on the munchies for this one.

See...that one I get, because that was totally my mother--no one wants your generic chips and Shasta cola. :D And the accountant in me still tends to fall into the trap of the cheap-o Doctor Thunder from Wal-Mart (ok, not that one so much, but the name makes me giggle like a 6th grade boy).

Of course, this being SoCal (eyeroll), I run the risk of at least one of them being a staunch vegan for political and fashion reasons. I hope not...but it does add a +5 to the difficulty.

Yeah, I agree with you; adolescence sucks. It's hard to tell where girls fall in the spectrum.

Food, movies, a few "spa" things would be good. Unfortunately, my daughter, who at 15 is just NOW getting into wanting to wear a dress again after babyhood, doesn't give me much experience to assist.

Yep, I wouldn't wear skirts at that age either. Funny, tho, I just realized the other day that I need to get more skirts, because pants on the back of my calves really drive me up a tree.

I think the spa thing is a factor of where we live. These gals are ruthless about the clothes, hair and styles. Not her friends so much as classmates, and that has made her extra conscious of the issue. Makes me sad, but at the same time we're making progress with her matching her clothes (!) and...shall we say...tempering her unique sense of style. :)

I'm sure you'll have an opportunity soon when you get back to Twin Cities. It's hard to be away from them.
