It's because they're niggers, aren't they?

I think it's a particularly...if not African-American thing, then a minority thing.  You know, the days where you just wake up and you're fucking angry at the world because you feel like...

...a jungle bunny.
A spade.

A nigger.

And then you want to punch whitey's face in.

Okay, uh. This is hard to explain. )

no shrubs, tastes of meta, trina, negroes gone wild

The problem was you shouldn't have been trusting them in the first place. It wouldn't be so obvious in this case, though, if every single branch of the government hadn't utterly failed. The people in charge of New Orleans failed. The people in charge of Louisiana failed. The people in charge of the U.S. failed.

But...I did admit that it wasn't entirely the fault of the federal government. I may be a liberal, but I'm not that dumb.

Admittedly, my indictment of Nagin and Blanco isn't strong. The second half of the rant, however, was why it wasn't as strong as my indictment of the Bush administration - because I suspected it wasn't the true issue at hand.

Will I admit my views are biased? Of course. This government hasn't done much for my faith in them before, and the Katrina debacle certainly hasn't done much for it now. You can mention that everyone involved fucked up, but that doesn't address the problem.

If you're implying my - and many other people's - ire is misdirected, then you'd probably be right. But...to be honest, it may very well be more Condoleeza Rice (for example) buying shoes on the Hamptons in the wake of the disaster than the actual response.

And yes, I know it's not Condi's jurisdiction. The fact is, the episode was sort of indicative of the way I feel - and may very well be indicative of the way many Americans

I just mean that no one who can't toss around millions on a whim can trust the government. :(
