Event Post 21 - Cliffside Angst

*The sun is setting over the island and Juudai can be seen sat on part of a cliff, just down the dirt road from Osiris Red. It's sunset by this time and the sky is a beautiful mix of orange, red and yellow. Juudai watches the calm ocean in front of him for a while before looking down at his deck that he has fanned out in his hands

*A Johan approaches! Ruby is on his shoulder and he seems to be smiling, but his body language seems to scream discontent and worry. OHAI YUBEL!*

*Juudai looks up at Johan and tries to give him a reassuring smile, though it looks more pathetic if anything. He doesn't want his friend to feel bad, though it seems that's all he's been doing today... people feel bad, because they see that he feels bad himself... it's like a chain. Unfortunately, he's not good at faking being happy. Or his friends can read him oh too well.*

Just talking like this helps, Johan. It reminds me that no matter what's going on, I have the your support and the support of everyone else.
This is... it's just one of those things I have to find and solve on my own.

*Meanwhile, Yubel is watching them with an expression that could vaguely be called concern. She does know why he feels like he does, but for now she's not mentioning it. She wants Juudai to figure this out for himself, something Juudai seems to realize too. It's part of growing up. Facing problems and working to solve them.*

*Johan sees Juudai's rather sad attempt at a smile... and can't help but laugh a little. Ruffles his hair affectionately.*

Of course you do. I'm always on your side, and I always will be. It's just never fun to be like this... I know it's your problem to solve, but I still wish I could help somehow.

And don't forget Ayumi will always help as best as she can.

*Ayumi, cookie in mouth, nods. BMG then waves over at Yubel*

*As his hair is ruffled, Juudai's smile actually grows into a genuine one as he laughs. In return to this, he very lightly punches Johan's arm with his fist playfully, all pal-like and stuff*

I know how that feels. There have been times I've wanted to help people, but could do nothing. It's a terrible feeling but... ah, I guess we'll have to see how it goes.

*Yubel looks from Johan and Juudai to BMG. That's all she does*

*Johan laughs some more, glad he actually got Juudai to do the same.*

You'll be alright. We're all here for you, no matter what seemingly inconquerable nightmares might lie in your future. But hey, that comes with the job description of being a hero, doesn't it?

*Ayumi grins*

*Juudai continues to laugh back*

Ah! It does!

*Juudai looks at his two friends. He's so grateful he has good friends like them to pick him up when he's feeling down*

*The smile briefly fades off Johan's face when he is reminded of something, but quickly returns in an attempt to push the oncoming thoughts out of his mind. He leans back against the tree gently and turns his eyes upward.*

You know, stuff like this... is what I never wanna let go of. I treasure it more than anything in the world... Over things like dueling, and probably over life itself. I mean, between you guys and the Gem Beasts, I think if you took away everything else in my life from me... it just wouldn't matter.

*He closes his eyes slowly, expression beginning to turn more neutral.*

...I'd rather die than lose everyone around me.

*Ayumi blinks a little at Johan before smiling slightly* It would take a lot to make you lose us, Johan.

*Juudai looks at Johan and he nods*

Ah. I feel the same way. I'd do anything to keep you guys safe. You're all important to me.

*Juudai carries on watching Johan for a while, before turning back to look at the sunset scene before him*

*To Ayumi* I know... I guess that's just the scariest thing I can possibly imagine from my own perspective.

*Johan looks like he wants to say something else, but decides against it. Would rather not make anyone here feel any worse than they already do, after all.*

*Ayumi moves over next to Johan and gives him a friendly comforting hug* Don't worry, Johan.

It is a scary thing to imagine. I remembered what Darkness told me when he listed off everyone's darkest thoughts in their hearts. Part of mine was a fear of being alone, I feared failing as a hero and losing everyone close to me.

*Juudai is still looking out at the ocean and the sunset as he says this, with a small breeze lightly moving his hair*

*Hugged by Ayumi, Johan grins awkwardly.*

Hehe, thanks, Ayumi.

*The grin fades off his face, though.*

It's just that... when it's likely it might actually happen...

*Whispered* I guess... the truth is always scarier than anything I could ever think up.

...Anyway, this is nice... I can see why it's your favorite spot to hang out.
