Frustrated

You want me to have a baby? Try taking the fucking initiative just once for anything having to do with taking care of the cats. Give me one goddamn sign that if I have your child I'm not looking at 18 years of being a single mother with a husband!

Maybe you should make him look after an egg first, or a small bag of sugar, or start with a plant. I hear where you're coming from though, parenting is a 2 person job at the best of times.

Y'know, it was my ex-girlfriend that really loved dogs. She pushed and pushed me to get one. For a while, I put it off, but after we had been together a year, I gave in. I was considering marrying her, and I figured if we couldn't co-raise a dog, that would be a good indicator.

As soon as I brought him home it became "my dog". She wouldn't do a thing, never walked him, never had him stay at her place, wouldn't ever buy him toys or treats, leaving everything to me. Isaac was a great move -- he was a large sign (although one among many) that a permanent arrangement with this girl wasn't a good idea.

Of course though I love him and am glad I have him.

Sorry for the ramble.. but I understand. But know even if your husband is lazy and non-participatory (sounds like he needs a discipline regime), IF you decide to have a kid, you'll ultimately be glad you did regardless. :)

Wow. You have an amazing knack for giving me a little perspective on husbands more annoying behavior. Thank you.

To bad you're not into guys. You'd make a really understanding husband. ;)

And then there's the perspective that he might just not be a cat person--I couldn't imagine taking care of cats, tbh! ;-) And the other one that cats and dogs cannot be equated to children, much as many people might think. Then there's the one that yes, he is a jerk and certainly shouldn't be a father. Take your pick, and good luck.
